If you can spare any good thoughts or prayers for Lauri (MeanLaureen)

Hi everyone

I thought I would make a quick plea for any good thoughts or prayers you can send Lauri's way. She's having an extremely hard week pain wise.

She's head of inventory for her district and she has 3 stores practically back to back. During the last 36 hours, she's worked 24 with no breaks. She still has 3 days to go.

The pain has intensified to the point where she is no longer able to walk once she gets home. It's like her body runs somewhat on adreneline while working and even though she's in pain she can put one foot in front of the other, but as soon as she gets home she basically collapses. At one point yesterday night she passed out from the pain. I have to hold her just to walk 10 ft.

She's taking her usual Morphine with Vicodin inbetween to try to numb the breakout pain but it's not doing much of anything.

She'd never walk away from her responsibility so abandoning the rest of the inventory is just out of the question. All the equipment is signed out to her and the results of all these inventories is her responsibility. Plus she is a stubborn redhead and will see it through if it kills her.

Any prayers or thoughts to help her be able to get up tomorrow as pain free as possible would be so appreciated. I know she will never see a pain free day again, but if it could just be bearable...

I'm really at a loss as to what to say! Passed out from the pain!!! Bless her heart for having the drive and determination to *want* to carry on. Certainly I wish for her to have pain free days....all of them! (And I get the impression you're a really sweet DH! )

Therein lies the problem. She is stubborn. So stubborn that if you look the word up in Webster's you will see a picture of her.

She has a cane in the trunk of her car that I managed to get her to use when she went to WDW a few years ago. She has refused to touch the thing again since. She would crawl before she would get in a wheelchair.

Its not a pride issue for her, so don't get me wrong. It's not like she would feel like less of a person for using any aid to walk. Her issue is she is scared that once she depends on something, she will never be able to go back. She watched her mom deteriorate in a similar way (not the same disease although both are autoimmune) and she swears she won't let that happen. Lauri is a lot stronger than her mom though - 100 time stronger. But she still has that fear.

Her stubborness is also the reason she never applied for disability.

My heart is breaking for both of you. I know all too well the impotent feeling of watching someone you love suffer while they stubbornly and foolishly continue to do things they shouldn't, things that intensify the pain. YOU are in my prayers, as well.

I don't know her, but I like her posts (and Duran Duran). Please tell her to cut the crap. Pain is a signal to stop! I mean this in the nice way, of course.

You'll both be in my prayers tonight.
