If you booked at WL-what type of room would you want?

I've had a woods view room..which I didn't care for. One was of well..woods..and their were mosquitos on the glass door to the balcony. Changed rooms..Another, last minute trip gave me a view of the woods again..and the sounds of the delivery trucks in the morning..not to mention the smell of the smoke house. Absolutely could not use the balcony. Switched rooms..they gave us a wonderful upgrade to a Courtyard view. Which was fine..but it was also a bit noisy and frankly, I don't appreciate looking across the U shaped resort in the rooms of others. I figure if I can see them...they can see in our room also. Just didn't feel they offered privacy. Not to mention..it never failed someone would have their towels or beach wear hanging out to dry on their balcony.
Came to find my favorite view..and the one I always request. Villa Pool view...when I book it, it's the same rate as a "Courtyard View", and make a request to have a view of the "villa pool". This was originally a woods view prior to the villas being built. We stayed there then also. I just prefer this side of the resort. It overlooks a bike/walking path, and since the Villas have been built also looks out at the Villas. They are quite lovely. The Villa Pool view is very peaceful, yet gives you something nice to look at. The pool area is calm, and not noisy, and we can also see some of the marina area and Bay Lake. We very much enjoy using our balcony in the morning for coffee and in the evening. This gives us a nice view, without looking at a tree(nothing against trees..we camp all the time and I'm going to FW in August) just when I'm paying WL rates..I want something else to look at. Through a lot of hit and miss, we have found that we are suited best to the Villa Pool view.:thumbsup2

We stayed in a woodsview room that faced the Villas and was over a lovely (not!) service entrance and dumpster.

Handsdown the worst view we ever had at WDW resort and one we paid extra for.

Whoa...never been my experience with a villa view. I wasn't even aware there was a dumpster along that path at the WL. Sorry to hear you had that kind of "view". Yuk! I did have a view that was standard that overlooked a lower WL roof(the cubs den, I believe) that faced the villas...but no dumpster, and we sure didn't pay extra for it. I will tell you though that whenever I wasn't thrilled with our view..I've called the front desk and they've always been very accomodating and moved us. I would not tolerate looking at a dumpster no matter what view I paid for. Our trip last May, we paid for and requested a Villa Pool view. When we went to our rooms(we had two..one for us, and my older son booked his own room also), we found that they looked out at the Villas...but not the pool. When I phoned the front desk to questioned why we didn't have a pool view, they indicated they were trying to keep our party together (thinking there were kids in the other room).....and there weren't two rooms with the pool view. I told them.."he's 26 years old,...I think he's okay on his own!"...They laughed, and moved us further down the U shaped resort where we had a perfectly lovely view of the pool. ;) My son stayed exactly where he was..obviously not as particular about the view as his mother!:cutie: It never hurts to ask if you are unhappy with a particular view. I've always found the staff to be incredibly helpful, and very accomodating.

Not this room...

My parents had a courtyard room while we were in a standard. I was happy when we were assigned the 4th floor. I knew they had the open balconies and nice public areas. There are some on the 5th floor too and I made sure to visit them all! Our room was 4096.

There were a few detractors. The view out our (enclosed) balcony was horrid:sad2:. I stayed standard view at AKL on my last trip and the balcony looked out over the hotel entrance. We could just see the cars in the distance, but not easily. I suppose I expected a similar view at WL, but here's what we saw:

My family spends little time in our rooms, so we just kept the curtains closed the entire time.

I would too.

This is a courtyard view?..I'm confused..which view is this. It's awful...I would have asked for a different view before I even put my luggage down.

We had a water view..of Bay Lake..one of the rooms that face right out at the water. It was AWFUL...go figure. It had a stone balcony..that you had to stand to see over. Which to me defeats the purpose of the balcony. Then when you did stand you were looking directly into a tree...seems the landscaping had grown quite a bit since the resort opened. We had another room adjacent to this on the outside of the U..facing the Villa Pool. We took that room and my son took the one with the so called.."water view". I really hate those stone balconies..they are the worst.
My mom had a suite a few years back, and encounter the same thing...they are really have a kind of clostrophobic feel to them.
