If you book your room say in value season (Value
8/19-9/27) arrival sept 26th for 10 nights but it changes on 9/28 to regular season, do you get the room rates for the value season for the whole trip or do your rates jump to the rates in regular season on the 28th of sept for the rest of your stay?

Deb.

No, your room rate changes to match the season. The same with day vs weekend rate

WDWMAW is correct - they just simply start charging you at the higher rate. If you price out your vacation on the website you can see the prices per day and can tell when they jump a bit.

Maybe I am wrong, but I thought in the past you paid the same amount for the whole vacation if you started in value season and then it changed.

Thanks,

Deb.

You are 100% correct. But they changed that a few years ago :(

Wow, they have really changed alot of things for the worse pricewise in reservations for the customer, I also remember when friday and saturday nights were the same price as the rest of the week.

There used to be an 800# now by the time I finally get thru to reservations after the prompts questions, trying to spell my name and the computer always gets it wrong etc. I am racking up a longdistance phone bill

We all have to dig a little deeper in our pockets.

You can't quite blame Disney. The old method your room rate for your entire trip was determined by your check in date. So if you checked in the last day of the value season in December and stayed thru New Years, your room was priced at value rates. Conversely if you checked in during peak season and it extended to value, then you were priced entirely at peak rates. The game people played was to make two separate room reservations, one that started and ended in peak season and then a second one that began in value season.

Disney basically closed the loop-hole, which makes complete sense. Its much better this way. Only thing I disagree with is the continued tiering and addition of new seasons and the weekend/weekday variances. Pretty soon there will be a new season for any month that ends in a "Y".

Okay, I didn't know about the loophole and the way people tried to get around it. Interesting.

Thanks,

Deb.

And consider too that all of those multiple reservations had to check in and out multiple times. Made for some huge lines at the desk, and they needed lots of extra manpower to handle it all. Just makes sense to keep it all the same rate.

The good thing is at least for now you can still check in on the last day of free dining and get it for your whole trip. If that discount ever comes up for your travel dates it may be worth looking at.

Is that for certain? Because I know it doesn't work in the opposite manner. Our trip in 2010 we flew in the day after Thanksgiving and then the free dining started the following day. So we ended up booking a one night room only reservation for Friday, then a 7 night package with free dining (rechecking in again) for Saturday stay going forward.

No, it doesn't work that way in reverse.

But as stated by the PP, you can book the entire week of dining if you are checking in on the last day of the offer. It is one of the perks with free dining that makes it so much more desirable.

I do arrive the Saturday after Thanksgiving as well and have had to book a room only the first night on the last three years, in order to get the discount.
