I have booked our ADRs for the summer and have been pouring over the menus. DH likes some of the meat dishes but isn't so keen on the veg/rice accompaniments can he swap for another on the menu, e.g. swap polenta for mashed potatoes?
As the previous poster stated with the exception of the price fixed selections at Le Cellier, Captains Grill, and Chef's de France, Disney will usually let you select another side as long as it is a side that is listed with another entree. Most will not let you sub one of the sides that's listed at the bottom of the menus though. The exception to that are the 2 credit signature restaurants. I've always been able to sub one of the sides listed at the bottom of the menus at those. I do not eat potatoes and always substitute something for them if they normally come with my preferred entree.
Oh yeah, one other exception is Yak & Yeti. They do not allow you to sub sides at all. I love their ribs, but do not eat cole slaw. I've never been able to get a different side (and I've asked if I could just have a double helping of the fried rice that comes with the ribs and still been told no. I've even told the waitress to just leave the cole slaw off then, since I won't eat it and they won't even do that).
Thanks both, good to know about the 2 credit restaurants. Shame about Yak and yeti I don't like coleslaw and was hoping to have the ribs option too, will need to rethink that - silly that they can't just leave it off.
I believe that many will let you change as long as it is something that is offered with a different meal.
But, I think they are stricter with sides that they only offer on their own. I know my DD has gotten changes at Le Cellier and as long as it was something with another entree is worked.
