Not to put a damper on this thread, but I was just reminded of a green-light incident that DBF and I were in last month...
We were on the highway for a very short time and ended up behind a minivan going about 45. We got off at the same exit. There are two lanes at the end of the ramp, with lights, as it funnels into two southbound-only lanes. Other than the slow speed, nothing else seemed amiss with the driver of the van. He was the first vehicle at the light in the lefthand lane, we were still behind me. When the light turned green, he didn't move. After several seconds, we gave him a little honk (literally, a little "beep-beep"). Still didn't move. A few more seconds, then another, slightly longer honk. Didn't move. Now others behind us were honking, and due to traffic in the right lane, nobody could move over. We gave him another longer honk and he STILL didn't move.
The light turned red...one car pulled up in the right lane, and we were able to back up and pull into the right lane. When the light turned green, the van still didn't move an inch. As we pulled out, we both turned to see the driver slumped over the steering wheel (how he kept his foot on the brake, I don't know). So now we both felt horrible...at the next light, we made a U-turn to go back. The van was STILL sitting there, cars honking. We pulled into a gas station and called 911. Gave it a few minutes, then drove by again. A state trooper was parked behind the van, the officer was standing at the driver's door, the door was open and the guy was moving and talking to the officer, so who knows what happened...
Anyway...sorry I ruined the fun...
