If you are a fan of the Coral Reef ....

I've been to Coral Reef four times in the last four years. Each time I've had a different seafood dish and I've loved them all. Since a lot of the seafood is seasonal and the menus are constantly changing, I'm not sure whether any of my recommendations would be useful to you. I will say that the salmon dish I had for dinner on our most recent trip was outstanding, though. And I love their butterscotch crème brûlée for dessert.

It's funny you should ask. I was visiting my sister last week, and she played some of our old Disney videos for me. On our trip in August 2009, she had purchased a new video camera, and she thought she was turning it off at the dinner table when she actually turned it on. The video captured no picture, but you could hear me raving about my food at the Coral Reef, as I was eating it.

I had the Grilled Mahi Mahi, topped with a spicy pineapple chutney over cashew-jasmine rice and finished with a coconut rum beurre blanc. It was heavenly. I had not forgotten how good it was, but listening to me raving about it sure did make me miss it even more.

I know you're supposed to get the fish when you go there, but my son doesn't like fish, so he got the filet. He said it was the best he's ever had! :thumbsup2 Melted in his mouth it was so tender and yummy. They have a signature dessert there too. Molten Lava cake. OMG, it is soooo good. I'm going back so we can both get the Filet and Lava cake. YUM!! :cloud9:

I just looked at the menu and I don't see the filet anymore. but I do see the Lave cake. It's called the Chocolate Wave.

DH loves the steak. It's a NY Strip. He also likes the mussels for appetizer. On our most recent trip I had the halibut. It was delicious. The butterscotch creme brulee is one of my favorite Disney desserts. No matter how full I am, I always have to get it. :goodvibes

Hands down it is the blackened catfish with what lasted like mashed potatoes (even though I know it was not). If you like spicy food this is perfect for you! For those who have never tasted catfish, it is a meatier fish with almost chicken type texture. Very very good!

Hi!

I dont like fish so I always get the NY strip steak and its amazing. They use to serve it with potato gratin which was to die for but they changed it on the menu to regular potatoes. I always substitute the potatos for the seafood risotto ($)and its incredible. One of my favorite meals in WDW!!!!!:thumbsup2

:thumbsup2 Yep, one of my favorite entrees at Disney!

The lobster raviolis were awful. That wasn't lobster, that's all I can say.

However, the lobster bisque or corn chowder (I've forgotten which soup is their speciality) was delicious. Next time I'd get a bowl of that along with a small salad.

The view was spectacular. Loved the atmosphere. We had a wonderful, efficient server and were in and out in well less than 90 minutes with a party of 6.

I read a bunch of bad reviews here and elsewhere about Coral Reef before we went. I was even going to cancel the reservation. I'm so glad I didn't. I'd do it again minus the ravioli.

On our trip in 2008, we had lunch here and all ordered different things. Everything was fine, however my DS bragged that his steak was delicious. So when we returned here for dinner in March 2010, we all ordered the steak (well, except for DH who had to be different, lol) and DS was right...it was delicious! DS had steak at 7 different restaurants on our 2010 trip (Narcoossee's, Kona Cafe, San Angel Inn, Les Chefs de France, Le Cellier, Coral Reef, and Teppan Edo) and he declared Coral Reef's to be the best steak of the trip. Also I thought the Butterscotch Creme Brulee was the best creme brulee that I had on this trip. Others I tried were Chefs de France, Le Cellier, Kona Cafe, and Wolfgang Puck Express.

I had the Pan Seared Seasonal Catch with Mushroom Scallop Risotto......My all time favourite Disney meal EVER :cloud9: I also agree with everyone else about the creme brulee....so very yummy :thumbsup2

Enjoy :goodvibes

The Dark beer...seriously. I forget off hand what it's called but it's good and comes in BIG glasses! I don't like seafood but I love the atmosphere of that place. Better yet, I like swimming in that tank and waving at you folks!

I love the mahi mahi!! It is amazing I love seafood and cant wait to eat there again in August! The chocolate wave dessert was awesome too. My husband had the chicken they let him get french fries instead of whatever it was suppose to come with which made him very happy, my husband is not into seafood or trying new things LOL.

the New York Strip Steak and Baileys and Jack Daniel's Mousse dessert

I tend to order the fish special. I'm afraid I can't remember any specifics except last year was halibut and it was GOOD!

I've had everything on the menu and the only dish that I think has any kind of wow factor is the mahi mahi.

I like the mahi mahi, but I miss the blackened catfish. I also recommend the lobster soup.

There is a Land and Sea appetizer that is really good. The lobster bisque is fantastic. For entree we love the blackened Catfish over pepper jack grits-one of us gets it every time:goodvibes. And you have to try the Jack Daniels and Baileys Mousse-sooo good!!:thumbsup2
