we would be at the pop century resort for 2 weeks and are not planning to do universal just WDW and the water parks

Then it has to be the new Ultimate 14 day pass. It gives you complete flexibility to come and go as you please for the whole 14 days but DOES expire at the end.

If you are planning another trip within the year, I would buy AP's - we've saved loads - went in October, going back in July - you can buy them when you get there and can choose the PAP's (more expensive tho') to include the water parks.

We saved money in October as we also got really good AP rates on the hotels. When we go in July, we'll only need to buy flights and accommodation (and I'll be looking for good AP rates again)

Check the exchange rate and compare the price of an AP with the 14 day ticket bought in the UK.

We got our AP before the 14 day tickets came out and buying when the exchange rate was high we got them for less than the cost of a 10 day ticket from Keith Prowse.

The basic AP doesn't include access to the water parks, Disney Quest or Pleasure Island, but the Premium AP does. Although it's a lot more expensive.
You do get various discounts with the AP, like 10% of certain meals in selected restaurants and 50% discount at the Disney mini golf. I think you also get a discount off the price of day tickets at the water parks.
You can get really good discounts on Disney hotels if the person making the room reservation has an AP - although I have read that these discounts will become rare in the future

To take advantage of any AP discounts you could get one AP and the rest 14 day tickets, you get the best of both worlds then
