If we eat at Rose and Crown during Illuminations...

Is ALL the seating there god for illuminations, or would we be taking a risk that we get a bad seating area and are stuck during the show?

All of the seats @ Rose & Crown are good. However, to get the best view for Illuminations, get a seat on the patio at the wall next to the lagoon. You're right there on the water without anything to block your view. It was the best experience of Illuminations I've ever had. :cool1: :smickey:

if you are seated inside the pub you will not really be able to see Illuminations. You really need a table on the patio, and even then if you are seated far back under the awning you will not see some of the higher fireworks displays from your table (this was our experience the last time we had dinner there).

The thing to keep in mind is that there are no guarantees for a table on the patio versus inside the pub - it's all about timing and luck because everyone wants to dine on the patio for Illuminations.

Actually, DH and I much prefer watching Illuminations over by Norway or Mexico, but it's always fun to experience it from someplace new.

Good luck - I hope you get a good spot on your night!

Even if you are seated on the inside, with an obstructed view, they will invite you outside a few minutes before Illuminations starts so you can see it.

Yes, this is true. But if you're in the middle of your dinner do you want to leave the table for 20 minutes to watch the show? Just me, but if I were waiting until that late to have dinner I think I'd be too hungry to go outside to watch! :teeth:

We made reservations for one night on our upcoming trip. I hope we get the patio.

You need to time your seating - get an ADR for 7:30 or 7:45 and hopefully by 8:55 you will be sipping wine or eating dessert.

Actually only 1/3 of the tables have a view of the show. 1/3 are around the corner, so the view is obstructed by the overhead covering. 1/3 are inside the pub. We've been very lucky: Over our trips to Rose and Crown, we've gotten a terrace table several times.

As others have mentioned, if you're not one of the 33% lucky enough to get a good view, the restaurant will invite you to stand at the rear of the good section to watch the show.

keep in mind that sometimes, depending on the wind factor you may get all of the smoke and ash right there...has happened to us several times.

Don't sweat it.. there's a special viewing area in the back of the restaurant where you can go before the show starts. We've been seated both inside the restaurant and on the patio on various visits, and always been able to get a good view of Illuminations (usually we have to get out of our seats).

This happened to me as well. They sat us on the patio, but right against the building under an awning. Spent several minutes scrunched down in my seat trying to see the fireworks. Finally got up and was lucky to find a spot at the railing - so not all seats are created equal!

We had an inside seating on our last trip, but as we finished we went to the special viewing area for a close up view of the show.

So are there multiple table configurations on the patio? ie, some 2 tops, some 4 tops, etc? We have a party of 8 and did say on our ADR that we were willing to be split, but were hoping for an 8 top together on the patio.
TIA
