If we don't take Her soon she's going with out us Pre trip report Updated 7/5/13

So we’ve made a slight change in plans. Would we be disers :disrocks:if we didn’t make changes? You know how I said we wanted to stay at AOA but with no discounts being offered we are going to stay at pop. Well I was sitting at work day dreaming about Disney :donald:and started thinking about our trip. Then I had the great idea of what about instead of driving almost all the way down on Nov 30 & get a room off site, why don’t we just stay one night in a LM room at AOA then we get to stay at the resort and it’s not that much more than staying off property for the night. I told my plan to Emily & She was sold. So now we’ve got a new plan. :cool1: We get the best of both worlds 2 new to us resorts in one trip and we get to stay a night at the one we really wanted to stay at.

Emily & I will leave around 4:00am Saturday Nov 30th. The total trip time is 8 hours if we drove nonstop. So we plan on about a 10 hours. This should put us rolling in to Disney around 2:00pm. We will get checked in and explore the resort some & if the weather is nice swim. Then around dinner time we will head to DTD for dinner. We’ve got to figure out where we want to go Earl of Sandwiches, Wolfgang Puck, or Raglan Road. We eat at EOS every time we go and we are talking about holding off on this till the end of trip and picking up a sub to take with us on the drive back home. Now we’ve heard great things about both the others. So at this point we are undecided feel free to leave a suggestion on which one you would pick if you would like to help. After dinner we will head back to the resort and get some sleep. The next morning we will check in to Pop and head to our first park.
:goodvibes

Yay for getting to stay at AoA after all! I'm betting that ya'll can make that drive easily. You may remember that, last trip, we tried Wolfgang Puck Express and loved it so I'll suggest you try dinner there.

Booked our Room only at AOA today. now I'm looking at maybe adding a day at the end of our trip but going to Clearwater Fl for a night. I've never seen the gulf coast and we are skipping our summer beach trip this year and I don't know if I can go over a year with out seeing the ocean. So if you know any good place to stay for a night in Clearwater let me know. :)

Woo hoo! I say go for it and add that day to the trip so that you can see the gulf coast. :thumbsup2

We got a new plan:

Ok so we are now 199 days from out trip and with party dates, park hours, and pin codes being released we have a pretty much concrete plan. Of course being a diser everything is subject to change.

So on with the plan right?

Hold on wait, 1st things 1st we need some extra pixie dust wishes for traveling party some things need to line up traveling buddies can make the trip with so. Everyone on 3 lots of pixie dust wishes 1 2 3…… Thanks!!!! I’m sure that will help a lot.

Ok on with the plan.

Wednesday 11-27-2013 (no we aren’t going to Disney that early hold on a min) work yep 8:00 – 5:00 Emily & I both have to work, but when we get off my aunt & uncle (Emily’s parents) will be at our house. We will have sort of quick dinner and start some Thanksgiving prep work.

Thursday 11-28-2013 Thanksgiving Day. I will get up semi early and load up some stuff and head over to my Grandma’s house. We have a tradition of me coming over and helping her finish cooking and watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade together as we cook. We all have dinner with my family around lunch time then we check out the black Friday (or now Black Thursday) ads and plan were we are going to go shopping. We will probably just hit wal-mart & target this year. After that we will head back to our house and load up the car with most of our Disney luggage. Around 9:30pm we will head out with the masses to wal-mart (unless they open earlier than 10 this year) we will do a little bit of shopping with Emily’s mom then come home probably by 1:00 and get in bed with dreams of Mickey Dancing in our head.

So now if you read all of that babble on to the “new” plans.

Friday 11-29-13 (Black Friday)
We will load up the car and do some last minute cleaning so we don’t come home to a messy house. We will have lunch with my Aunt and Uncle and after lunch we will start our journey to the house of mouse. We are going to make a 6 hour drive to Kingsland Ga. Where is Kingsland Ga at you ask well it’s the last exit before you cross the Georgia Florida line. We will stay at hotel there we are looking at a few different ones. We should arrive there around 8:00pm so we will go ahead and fill up the car before checking into the hotel then we will have a little bit of time to relax before bed.

Saturday 11-30-13 D-Day (Disney day)

We will probably get up around 6 or 6:30 because Disney is just a few hours down the road and it’s ONLY been 4 years since our last visit. We will have breakfast at the hotel and hope to be on the road by 7 or 8. Depending on if it’s open or not we may stop at the Florida welcome center even though it’s only a few miles (15) down the road from where we will be staying, just because I’m a dork and like to take pictures at the welcome centers.

We should arrive at Art of Animation by noon at the latest we will get checked in take some pictures of the resort throw or overnight bags in the room and then head down to grab some lunch at downtown Disney around 1:00. As you will remember in the earlier update we were trying to decide between Wolfgang Puck Express & Raglan Road. We could really pick which one we wanted to try and with the new plan we will get to Disney earlier I say let’s do both we are on vacation we’ve got to eat lets live a little. So we will take the bus to DTD and grab some lunch at WPE we will probably just split something here so we don’t get over full. I’m really thinking about trying the pizza everyone keeps talking about, but it’s a 199 days way I can change my mind. After lunch we will start our shopping adventure almost all of my Christmas shopping is going to be done at Disney this year.

We will try and make a dinner reservation for around 6:30 or 7:00 for Raglan road for dinner again we may split something just depends on what we are feeling.

Option 2 for that day if we start out early and we are getting kind of hungry we may stop by DTD on the way to AOA and grab lunch then go to the resort get checked in and explore some then head back out to DTD for the evening.

We got a new plan part B:

12-1-13 Sunday our first park day.

We will get up kind of early so we can go get checked in at POP. I’m plan on doing online check in so that hopefully it won’t take us too long. If the room is ready we will probably take our luggage into the room, if not we will grab our tickets and we are headed to DHS

The park opens at 9:00 that morning and they have evening extra magic hours. We will like everyone else head straight for TSM. If they still have the old school fast passes we will grab some for later and then start our tour of the park. We plan to go to 50’s prime time for lunch.

Some of the major things we plan to do are:

Rockin Roller Coaster I haven’t been on it since 2008 I’m long overdue. Last trip 2009 I sat out with the kids and never went back to ride it.

Tower of Terror is also a must we also want to try to ride it once when it gets dark
(side note this is a picture from 2008 and Logan insisted on riding it very funny story)

Beauty and the Beast stage show is another must do.

One thing I would like to try this year & I hope the kids are with us so I can justify going in here is. I want to have my picture taking wit Anty at Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set Adventure before it’s gone. I loved that movie as kid and I’ve never been in there.

Muppets 3d is also another must do for us. Hey Waldorf

And even though I’m not into star wars and could tell you very little about them I would like to ride the new ride. I have also made a vow to Mark & Logan I would watch all the star wars movies before we go so I will be in on the lingo.

That’s some of the highlights we want to hit but the most important of them all is The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.

I’m a Christmas junkie love everything about it and I could easily spend the whole 2 extra magic hours in this part of DHS. All kidding aside we may spend an hour in there. We will find a little out of the way corner grab some hot chocolate and just people watch & light watch. It makes me smile just thinking about it. 

We will grab a counter service somewhere for dinner that night, not really sure and since it’s a counter service & you don’t get a lot of on the whim food choices when you are Disney we will pick from the limited CS places that day.

After I’ve soaked up every last Christmas light I can we will head back to the resort for some rest.

We are planning two different versions of the this trip one w/ only 2 people :sad1: and then the one we hope works out with 6 people :yay: So I will be back later to make some updates for the whole what 3 of you that are reading this :rotfl2:

Good gosh! Those are two totally different trips! Good luck!

Tell me about it, for the most part it's just the dinning we are having to figure out. We all want to do pretty much the same thing, but with them not booking a trip yet the dinning is making it hard.

Something that you'll want to keep in mind that I didn't know before we went....if there are 6 or more in a party, the Disney restaurants automatically add the tip to your bill. I thought that it used to be 8 or more but it's 6.

Yea they got us with that last trip and at the time Abby was a baby and they still said she counted towards the 6. For the most part I love Disney but making you tip for a infant is a little crazy. :)

Just found your PTR and I'm reading along. I still have to decide if I'm going to write one for my trip or not.

We got a new plan part C:

Before we get started with the plans we are 171 days from our trip and even though our travel partners haven’t said they aren’t going we are pretty much planning now for them not to go. The final payment is due in 125 days and they haven’t booked yet. So if things do work out and they get to go it will be a great surprise. But as for now it’s a best friends Disney trip.

So back on with the plan.

12-2-13 Monday:

Just another Manic Monday or Magic Kingdom Monday.

This morning we will find ourselves at the Magic Kingdom. We may try to see the opening show for the 1st time ever. The park opens at 9:00 and also has evening extra magic hours. This will be our first time at MK since the new fantasyland has opened so we will break tradition and go right we enter instead of left. We may stop for Peter Pan fast pass before exploring (if they still have them) the new fantasyland. We will line up with the masses to have lunch at BOG since we couldn’t get a dinner ADR. Emily in convinced that we will get our ADR on July 22nd for her b-day. I sure hope she’s right. We are pretty much go with the flow types and since the kids won’t be with us our flow will be a little faster paced.

Some of the things we will hit.

All 3 mountains, Haunted Mansion, Pirates, Carousel of progress (it’s one of my favs) Buzz which is going to be a little sad without my game partner Logan.

We have a dinner ADR at Ohana’s at 8:10 so we are hoping to have a window view to see wishes.

After dinner we will head back to MK for extra magic hours. I want to try and take a few pictures as the crowds clear out to have as wallpaper on my computer and stuff when I get back home. Pretty close to 11 we will head back to POP to get some rest.

Whaaaaaat? They still haven't made their reservations yet?

We had a table almost all the way across the restaurant (Ohana) but we were still able to see Wishes from where we were seated. Not as up close as those by the windows but we could still see.
