If we can't stay at BC, should we choose the Cabins or OKW?

Trying to put together a WAY last minute trip for the middle of March. Craziness, I know!! My family ADORES the BC, but we've added a new member to our family since going 2 years ago, and I'm thinking we would really be cramped in one room. My kids are 16, 13, 9 and 21 months. In looking online, it looks like we could do OKW or Cabins without breaking the bank. But...will we be satisfied? Can someone share their opinions of these two, or possibly even another resort we may like?

If we don't go now, we could possibly go the end of May, as soon as the kids get out of school. June is booked with church camp and motocross camp, so that month would be out. I worry the other summer months would be too hot. The only month we've ever been is March, so have missed out on the waterpark aspect.

Thanks for any advice!!

Since the decor is so drastically different, I would go with the one that most appeals to you. I think you would have more space in the cabins. because although OKW has large rooms, 4 kids and 2 adults in a studio just doesn't seem like a vacation to me. If you are talking a 1 bed at OKW then I would say, stay there. We are DVC members and i love those rooms! Given nothing compares to BC's pool and I think the two pools are comparable. You are a boat ride from DTD at OKW but you are also a boat ride from MK and CR, which will give you the monorail at the cabins. I guess you need to decide what is more important to you.

I think you'll have A LOT more room in OKW, plus the washer-dryer in the room. But Fort Wilderness has a lot more to do and you can let the older kids do some stuff on their own. The Meadows Recreation Area has lots of stuff to keep them busy. Both have good pools.

We've stayed at both. We pick the cabins over OKW because of the MK boat, the electrical water pageant and fireworks from the beach, and the privacy of the cabin. No one is over, around or under you so it's much more quiet.

It is hard to compare those locations to the BC, since there is no comparison. ;)
If you are staying at a 1 br at OKW, that would be nice and roomy. If it is a studio, then forget it. Ft Wilderness cabins give you a full kitchen and a separate living room. I would take FTW over a studio, but am not sure what I would do if I was comparing a 1 br villa.

The studios do not have washers and dryers...only 1 br. and 2 br. I think you would have more room for your family in the cabins. A 1 br. at OKW would work for your family if you use a pack/play or crib for the baby.

Comparing resorts, not the size of the room. I would have to recommend OKW.
While Ft. Wilderness has a lot of different things to offer, if you are accustomed to liking Deluxe resorts, I think OKW is more comparable.

Sorry, I forgot to mention that it would be a 1 bedroom at OKW. This is a tough decision. I appreciate everyone's opinions, though. I'm going to look through some of the photos of both places.

The master bedroom of the OKW villa is very nice and private. The kids would sleep in a separate room. The main bedroom of the cabins has a set of bunkbeds and sleeps four. That is something to consider. ;) The cabin is a separate unit with its own deck. Staying at the camp ground could be a lot of fun. But OKW looks awesome, too. Both are very different. I know what I would choose because I know what my husband would like. :) The OKW villas would be closer to what we love about the BCV, than an stay at the cabins would be.

Thank you all! I'm leaning more toward OKW now, but I have a question. If we absolutely hate it, is there a way to cancel in the middle of our trip and try a different resort? Not that I would WANT to do this, but just wondered.

I would also vote for OKW since it will not be long before you will not fit legally with 6 3 or older.

With this late a trip I would investigate renting points since you would likely get it for a lot less since last minute points can be $8 or less which would put you in a 1br for under 300 or maybe even a 2br for that price range.

Ooh, thank you!! I've never researched renting points because it sounded confusing, but I am going to start now!
