If we can DREAM it, we can do it! ..... another 30 day vacation Update 02/07

Day 8, August 18

Spending time with friends - Part 3

10 minutes after we had left the Magic Kingdom we were admiring the view from high up again and since we felt a little peckish we headed over to the lounge.
They had changed to appetizers and Tom picked up

a Yuengling and

IMG_5016.jpg

a plate of cheese, crackers, olives, cucumber slices and tomatoes. I had gotten some Diet Coke,

IMG_5018.jpg

poured myself a glass of white wine and gotten

IMG_5017.jpg

some breaded chicken strips, some delicious steak flatbread and a bit of dipping sauce. Both were so good that I went back for seconds

IMG_5020.jpg

and Tom tried it as well.
We then headed downstairs to the shopping area and bought a DVC backpack and a few other items before returning to our room. I wanted to try one of my treats from the Main Street Confectionary and decided on trying

IMG_5022.jpg

the chocolate dipped strawberry. It had been sitting out a bit and was fragrant, ripe and juicy.
We put the chairs out on the balcony to good use and sat outside with a beverage for quite some time

before we wanted to pay another visit to the lounge. Tom was fancying a drink and I was hoping for some desserts. When we got there, we were both rewarded.
First Tom took a few pics of the lounge and its offerings,

then he picked up

IMG_5031.jpg

a Heineken and a Diet Coke for me. I tried two different

IMG_5029.jpg

pastries and some green apple with caramel dipping sauce, which was just outstanding, while Tom tried

IMG_5032.jpg

a cookie and some apple with caramel as well. We sat for quite a while and Tom got some brandy as well, while we enjoyed the view. It took quite some time until we returned to our room.
I repacked some things and we relaxed for a while, then decided on a Monorail loop. We both got changed and headed downstairs to the Monorail stop. There was quite a line when we arrived and we had to wait for the third Monorail to get on.
We got off at the Polynesian and walked around the grounds, checked out the shop and finally headed over to Captain Cooks to pick up some dinner to take back to the Contemporary with us. Once our order had been filled we strolled back to the Monorail and got onto the next one and rode back to the Contemporary.
When we entered the room we saw that we had had turndown service and since we had left an extra tip, we had received a very generous amount of chocolates. We made ourselves comfortable using the writing desk as our table and started to enjoy our in room lunch.

To be continued ............

Wow Karin what a view from your room. I could just sit there for hours watching. It is just so peaceful.

And all the goodies you are getting from your lounge look great! I doubt if we ever stay CL but it does look very nice.

And yay for your DISmeets! How fun. :goodvibes

Yes, the view was AWESOME! I could have lived out there on that balcony. ;)

The lounge was so well stocked. We never thought we would be able to afford CL, but this one stay was absolutely wonderful. We didn't do much park time and enjoyed the resort to the fullest. :thumbsup2

It was so much fun to spend time with Elaine and Howie and their kids - nothing like WDW with friends. :goodvibes

I am glad I didn't just miss the announcement, Jen. I was so stunned it did actually go through. :rotfl2:
As for the new website - I really enjoy working with it. I did a couple "test" dining reservations, which I let go again right after I made them and the only kink they have is that sometimes the date rotates back again.
I find the new website pretty well structured and I enjoy that they even put up menus for the CS places! :thumbsup2
You will find it is not bad at all. I just think that sometimes people do not welcome change and give up if they don't find things where they expect them. ;)
I hope they startt their fastpass plus before we go too! :lmao: Should be fun to pick your rides while you are still at home. :thumbsup2

You must be one of the few lucky ones. it has been just awful to work with. Dining is down 95% of the time. Brook calls it craptastic and i always laugh when I hear her say it. And I have started using that word too now. :lmao:
Sadly it keeps crashing. And even for the cast members too. Hopefully it wil lget fixed and become good, but at this point it is very buggy and shouldn't have been released yet.

How wonderful to run into your friends like that. It sounds like you had a fun afternoon with them.
My those club offerings look really good. I think the apples with carmel caught my eye right away. Yum, I could go for some of that right now.

Oh my... I was behind.. again.

60 days? That is very early for online checkin!!!

How cool to run into friends!

The lounge looks amazing...relaxing..and the food?! Ya know, I always thing I want to do club level someday. Then I think it might be too much food. It almost looks like you could forgo some of the dinning and be quite satisfied with the offering there.

Love the view out your balcony!

Are you using the regular site, Jen, or a special one for TAs? I read a lot about the site being bad, but I had a lot of time to look around lately and it worked just fine for me.
I even made a few dining reservations (which I let go right away again ;)) to try it out and it worked just flawless!
The only bug I see all the time is that when you book dining - you need to book the following day for it to show the correct day. Now, that sounds pretty confusing. Let's say you want to to book February 1, then you need to select February 2, for the first to show up in the reservation. :rotfl2:

We wanted to meet with Elaine and Howie lateron in the day, but we had no idea they had had breakfast at Chef Mickey's and seen us sitting there munching our salad and cupcake. We had so much fun spending time with them. It was awesome. :goodvibes

The offerings in the lounge were SO good! And they were refilling all the time. I think we would not have needed any other food while there. ;)

Ann, no problem falling behind - happens to the best of us. ;)

I was so shocked when I found out about check in 60 days prior - I read it on the new site and just thought I'd give it a try and it did go through! :goodvibes

Ann, staying CL you would not need any additional food (well, a Mickey bar maybe) but they had tons of stuff all day. We tried a lot. ;)

Ah, don't remind me of the balcony - it was heavenly. We loved it up there. :goodvibes

The lounge is beautiful, Karin.

Kathy, it was absolutely fabulous. To be honest, I could get used to stay like that. Unfortunately our bank account does not agree. :rotfl2:
But it was nice to give it a try. :thumbsup2

I am sooo jealous I want CL!!!!

Rosie, you really need to try it for yourself, even if it is only for a night or two. The level of service and being pampered is absolutely wonderful. :thumbsup2

Day 8, August 18

Spending time with friends - Part 4

We made ourselves comfortable using the writing desk as our table and started to enjoy our in room lunch. There was

IMG_5037.jpg

IMG_5038.jpg

an Aloha Pork Sandwich, Pulled pork with BBQ sauce, pineapple cole slaw, cheddar cheese, cucumbers and tomatoes, served warm on a pineapple-coconut hoagie roll and served with Polynesian chips and the

IMG_5035.jpg

Pork Nachos to share and we could not wait to dig in. We loved both, the sandwich and the Nachos, but having snacked a lot that day we were not very successful in finishing them both off.
Having eaten we took another little rest before we headed outside to watch the fireworks from our balcony again. We both had a beverage, Tom had his camera handy and when the fireworks started we were all ready for it and enjoyed them very much.

After the fireworks were over we still sat out on the balcony for a while longer,

before we headed back inside. Tom went and got another beer, while I attacked the second one of my snacks,

a chocolate covered pineapple spear. Around 11.30 we finally fell into our beds and called it a day.

To be continued ............

Chocolate-covered pineapple is one of my favorite things! I'm also curious where I can find that in the World?

Loving your report, as usual!!!

How fun to do a little monorail tour before bedtime - You get to see all the lights that way!:thumbsup2 That Aloha pork sandwich looks really good - I will have to look for that one.

I think I want to live in your room at the contemporary and visit the lounge every hour on the hour. :rotfl: What more do you need? The view alone is amazing. It's almost enough to keep me out of the parks. Not quite. but close.....

That aloha pork sandwich sounds pretty good right about now considering it is almost lunch time over here.

Fun update!

That chocolate coated pineapple looks really good. Where did you pick it up from?

The chocolate covered pineapple was really good. Just don't put it into the fridge. ;)
Luckily we had left it out for a while and the chocolate was really nice on it!

I picked mine up at the Main Street Confectionary, but we did see it at some other locations too. :thumbsup2

You can for sure find it at the Main Street Confectionary, but we did see it at some other places too. Just keep your eyes peeled. ;)
I love all things pineapple and this (at room temperature) was just awesome. :thumbsup2

Yum Yum, we love Captain Cook's as well :thumbsup2

Captain Cook's has some yummy options, doesn't it? It was so worth travelling around the Monorail loop for it. :thumbsup2

We didn't want to stray too far from our room. :rotfl2: And the Monorail made for a great ride and some fun stopping at the resorts. :thumbsup2
Tammie, if you haven't tried the Aloha Pork Sandwich yet, please do so. Their house made chips are yummy too! ;)

Hm, your plan sounds just like what we did. :rotfl2:
You are right, the view from up there was absolutely amazing and we enjoyed every minute we spent on that balcony (and there were quite a few. :lmao:)

We have had the Pork Sandwich a few times now and it is really good. :thumbsup2

Magical room and view.

I need that pineapple. Now!

It has always been our dream to stay at the Contemporary with a MK view and it was all and more than we bargained for! It was really awesome.

That pineapple is really good. And as I said before - give it a little time to get to room temperature - so much better than right out of the fridge. ;)
