If we can DREAM it, we can do it! ..... another 30 day vacation Update 02/07

Karin how awesome that you have 2 more trips this year !!:cool1::cool1:I still have mt last FREE trip in 11 days to Disney:dance3::dance3: Still excited about the Disney Cruise in early May for which I already have the DisMoms to re meet !! Yes I met them on their very first ever Trip 5 years ago :cool1:ON Friday I picked up our Mickey Mail and have to meet Carol to give it to her as she handles that,:thumbsup2

I am so with you, Rosie! More trips, more fun and yours are even free trips. :thumbsup2
I can't wait to go back to DLRP, it is really neat all decked out for Christmas. :goodvibes

Karin
I am so happy that you will be able to get one more Disney trip in this year! I showed Vito Sr your Italian breakfast photo and he was very jealous!!! He said to tell you that your were having the PERFECT meal!!

I am so happy about the Paris trip too!
Plus I am glad Vito agreed on our breakfast! :thumbsup2 You really need to come over to Europe one day and experience it for yourself! You ALL would love the food ..... not to mention the scenery. :goodvibes

I'm so excited for you and Tom...fantastic news on your DLRP trip.

Thank you, Elaine! We have yet to come to grips with the fact that we are REALLY going! :goodvibes

Wait - Rosie - you are going to WDW in 11 days. Will you still be there in 16 days when Cynthia and I arrive?

Karin - I think DLP looks wonderful. How great that you were able to snag cheap flights and plan a weekend trip. I can't wait to see the pictures of the Christmas decorations.

It is really pretty at Christmastime ....... and it can be VERY cold. But who cares. ;)
I am even more excited we are staying onsite - we have not done that in a long time. And the more I read about the hotel New York, the more excited I get. :woohoo:

I haven't been able to be here for a few days & my goodness, all the great news & excitement happening!!!:woohoo: As always, I am SO excited for you & Tom, having two more amazing vacations to look forward to! The hotel in DLRP, looks wonderful & now we have even more TR's to look forward to!:dance3: Can't wait to hear more about your plans as well!

Real life has been stressful lately, Mary Ellen. I know I still owe you mail and hope to be able to write this week. :goodvibes
But we are both really excited to be able to squeeze in two more vacations before Christmas. :goodvibes :woohoo:
We rarely stay onsite in Paris, so staying at such a nice hotel is an added bonus treat. :thumbsup2

I'm so excited for you and so jealous at the same time. It's amazing the sacrifices you make so we will all have lots of trip reports to read :)

Thank you! We are very excited ourselves. :goodvibes Yes, I know, the things we do for the "fans" of our trip reports. :rotfl2:

Karin I'm amazed at the length you go to keep your reading public satisfied!:rotfl2:

All kidding aside it's wonderful that you get to go on all the Disney trips & the other side trips!

Yes, we are dedicated writers and would go to ANY Disney park, just to keep our readers satisfied. :rotfl: :rotfl2:
Doris, we are as amazed as everyone else, that we are able to squeeze so many extra trips in. It's just awesome. :goodvibes

What exciting news! I would like to check it out someday although I'll have a hard enough time getting Jeff into France as it is. How very very fun and soon (which of course is even better!)

Yip, we are exited about the news too! ;)
Maybe you should consider a looooooooooong trip to Europe. And fit in a visit to Austria as well. It's pretty nice here. :goodvibes

Love the pictues of Italy!!

You and Tom really know how to travel.

Thank you!
Italy is really beautiful and thankfully not too far from us here.

Woo Hoo another trip to Disneyland Paris :cool1:

I keep checking their deals everyday as I am hoping to get back out there again early in the new year; I've really grown to love that park :goodvibes

I still can't get over the fact that we actually will spend the weekend at DLRP.
It was awesome to find out that they offer a 40% discount on the hotels, even though they are still pricey. ;) But at least we will get to stay onsite again. :woohoo:
I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, so you'll find the perfect deal for yourself. :goodvibes

:goodvibes Very true...I am pretty darn close to WDW in mileage perspective

DLP for Christmas decorations :woohoo: Glad you decided to book the flight Karin :cloud9:

We used to go for Halloween every year, but their party is just an extra ticket for 5 more hours. No fun parade, just their usual one and no longer any special events.
Last year we were so done with it, we left before 10pm and vowed not to return to a party any time soon.
Christmas on the other hand is pretty nice. We love the festive atmosphere in the parks. So we are both pretty psyched to be able to go in November. :thumbsup2

Hi....I am joining along. Thanks for sharing!

Welcome! :goodvibes
I am glad you decided to come along for the vacation. I'll be done with my Italy report pretty soon and will post updates for our summer vacation. :thumbsup2

Italy September 2012

Day 2, September 22

Shop till you drop! - Part 2

We walked along the beach, took in the sights and smells before we headed back to the shopping area.

IMG_6683.jpg

IMG_6684.jpg

Walking down the street we noticed that one of the supermarkets was about to close and had a 30% off of everything offer. Now, we always bring home lots of groceries from our visits to Italy and Germany and that offer was very welcome.
We decided to walk further up the pedestrian area before heading back to the supermarket. We stopped at the local church

DSC_0949.jpg

DSC_0950.jpg

to light some candles and have a look at the interior and then the next stop was a shop that sells beaded jewellery. Their ideas are always fun and special, so we stopped in and I got carried away and bought more than I had actually wanted.

IMG_6728.jpg

IMG_6727.jpg

IMG_6731.jpg

IMG_6729.jpg

IMG_6732.jpg

Further up the street we went, exploring a few more shops and before we knew it, more than two hours had passed. So we headed back to the supermarket, picked up a lot of things we had wanted to buy in the first place, then packed everything into two shopping bags and back to the hotel we went.
The bags were really heavy, so it took us some time to get there and when we finally arrived, we took a short break.
We had a few drinks, unpacked all our goodies

IMG_6687.jpg

IMG_6689.jpg

IMG_6688.jpg

IMG_6690.jpg

and rested for a little while. A little after 1pm we decided we needed lunch. There was a ristorante right next to our hotel,

IMG_6691.jpg

so this is where we headed. We found an outside table, took a seat and a waiter was at hand quickly handing us a menu.
We looked over the enormous menu, then decided on our lunch and ordered from it. Again, Tom had some beer, while I was served Diet Coke in a slender can.

IMG_6697.jpg

IMG_6693.jpg

I had ordered an

IMG_6694.jpg

Insalata Mista, which is a salad of mixed leaves and vegetables. It comes undressed, but on every table there are salt and pepper, white wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

IMG_6692.jpg

So I dressed the salad and we both began to nibble at it. Shortly after the salad,

IMG_6695.jpg

Tom’s Pizza arrived. He had ordered a pizza topped with slices of suckling pig and peppers. While he said it was nice it was nothing special and as he said, a bit on the sweet side. Tom was halfway through his pizza when my main course arrived.
I had ordered

IMG_6699.jpg

Potato gnocci in a cream sauce with spinach and gorgonzola. The gnocci were nice, light and delicate, but the sauce did not have a lot of gorgonzola taste. But none the less we both were hungry and finished off our plates. Once we had paid our bill we went back to our room and had a little rest and a cup of coffee.

Looks like you had a great day shopping! Saw your Mickey pasta!
We went to the Columbus Zoo on Sat and after we ate at BD's Mongolian Barbeque, we had their deep fried Oreos with vanilla icecream for desert, very yummy!

Always fun to go shopping...love the beaded jewelry. Mickey pasta from Italy...nice to find something Mickey! :)

I just LOVE shopping. They have so many kinds of Pasta we cannot get here, so we STOCK UP big time. :rotfl2: ...... Oh, and we went shopping for groceries to take home the next day too. :rotfl:
:woohoo: for having fun at the zoo! We have not been in a long time. Guess what, we have Mongolian Barbeque too. We have never been yet and I highly doubt they will have deep fried Oreos. ;) :lmao:

Karin, you are quite the shopper...I just love your beaded jewelry!:thumbsup2

Yip! I LOVE to shop!!! :rotfl2: But as I said before, these are things we can't get here, or at least not the quality they offer there, so we stock up when we go there. Thank god we travel by car ...... imagine taking that on a plane. ;)
I always buy some of the beaded jewellery. It really is neat and since it is pretty cheap, there are NO tears when a bracelet goes missing or it rips. :thumbsup2

Ah, shopping, one of my favourite things to do! ;) :lmao:
They offer a lot of Disney themed things, mainly geared towards kids, but the pasta is fun for grown ups too! :thumbsup2

Italy September 2012

Day 2, September 22

Shop till you drop! - Part 3

Once we had paid our bill we went back to our room and had a little rest and a cup of coffee.
Around 3pm we headed out again, but we did not get very far, as an ice-cream parlour was calling our name.

IMG_6702.jpg

We sat down and ordered our treats.

IMG_6701.jpg

IMG_6700.jpg

IMG_6703.jpg

Tom had the

IMG_6706.jpg

Coppa Amaretto, several different ice-cream flavours, Amaretti biscuits, Amaretti and whipped cream. I tried the

IMG_6704.jpg

Coppa Tiramisu, Tiramisu ice-cream and vanilla ice-cream, coffee liquor and whipped cream. They were both very good and really huge and neither of us was able to eat more than half of it.
We needed to walk some of it off and since we wanted to buy some beads for my bracelet, we walked all the way down to the other end of the shopping street and into the Murano glass shop. They actually had some really nice beads and we also bought a really cute Murano glass Christmastree. Then they showed us some silver ornaments which would look nice on my bracelet. In the end we decided on buying a cute silver suitcase, which we later found out has the Eiffel tower and the word Paris on one side and a palm tree on the other and a small replica of the Campanile, one of Venice’s best known landmarks.

IMG_6720.jpg

IMG_6721.jpg

IMG_6722.jpg

I also got a beautiful glass necklace.

IMG_6724.jpg

The sales person told us that these are made by hand and that it is a long and tedious process to make them. When we left she gave us a map and a brochure and told us that there was another Murano shop and we should stop by there as well, as they had some more nice Murano goodies. On the way back we decided to really have a look at the shop and after a little walking around we finally found it. It was much more upscale than the other one, and the things they offered were really pretty. In the end we ended up buying another necklace.

IMG_6726.jpg

More goodies in hand we walked towards the beach and since the weather was nice we removed shoes and socks, rolled up our trousers and walked down to the water’s edge.

IMG_6710.jpg

IMG_6711.jpg

IMG_6715.jpg

IMG_6712.jpg

IMG_6717.jpg

And while the sand was still warm and nice, the water was cold. We dipped our toes in a few times,

IMG_6713.jpg

IMG_6716.jpg

took a few pictures of feet in the water and then headed back to our hotel,

IMG_6718.jpg

which luckily was just around the corner. We took another short break to take pictures of our loot and had some drinks.

IMG_6686.jpg

When we wanted to head out again it had started to rain a little and we decided to wait it out. Tom had brought a few taped TV programmes and we lounged on the couch in front of the TV for an hour or so.

Day 2, September 22

Shop till you drop! - Part 4

Tom had brought a few taped TV programmes and we lounged on the couch in front of the TV for an hour or so.
Shortly after 8pm we went out again in search of some dinner. Most of the restaurants were packed, but there was a particular one which we wanted to try. When we arrived there we saw a few people waiting outside, then read the sign that they were full at the moment, but would come outside to inform people waiting of the wait times.
After we had gotten in line it didn’t take long until the first people in line were taken to their table and there was just another couple ahead of us, so we decided to wait it out. We waited and waited and waited some more and then suddenly the hostess came out and handed every one of us

IMG_6733.jpg

a glass of Prosecco to make up for the long wait. We were all very surprised and gladly accepted the drink. A few minutes later we were asked if we would mind sitting in the outside area.
No we didn’t mind and about 5 minutes later we were led to our table. Tom ordered

IMG_6734.jpg

another beer and I stuck to my trusted can of Diet Coke and were offered

IMG_6737.jpg

a basket of bread to start with. This time it was MY time to order pizza,

IMG_6735.jpg

IMG_6736.jpg

a pizza Capricciosa, tomatoes, mozzarella, fresh mushrooms, ham, artichokes, olives and salami. It was one of the best pizzas I have ever had. A crisp thin crust, tasty sauce and lots of toppings. Wonderful! Tom ordered something completely different, he ordered

IMG_6738.jpg

a plate of very small

IMG_6739.jpg

local fried shrimps and

IMG_6740.jpg

small fried fish with

IMG_6741.jpg

polenta. The plate was huge! There was a mountain of shrimp and a mountain of fish and a small piece of fried polenta. Tom did his best to conquer it, but after about two thirds he had to give up.
We paid our bill, then slowly walked back towards our hotel. On the way home we picked up more goodies - a few cute glasses and Tom had seen a knife that he really fancied.

IMG_6725.jpg

At around 10.30 we were back and I quickly packed up all our stuff, before we spent some more time in front of the TV, nibbling a few chips and enjoying some drinks. Around midnight we called it a day and went to bed.

Hey Karin :goodvibes

What a great update!

Love the jewellery you purchased, I'm sure you look super stylish at school right now :thumbsup2

Looks like you ended the day with a wonderful meal :)

Karin, a great day!!! Love the jewelry AND mickey pasta :thumbsup2

Real Italian pizza :hyper:

A fun day you had. I would love those desserts...It's lunchtime here and all I have to eat is my boring lunch. The suitcase charm is a perfect one for you. I also love Murano glass, your red & blue ones are beautiful. I bought a Murano heart necklace on the Wonder a few years ago. I have the Minnie bead and Rachel & I have other Murano's on our bracelet's too.

It was such a fun and relaxed day ..... nothing better than spending money and eating really yummy food. ;) :goodvibes
They had such nice beads, we got two more the next day. :rotfl2: I filled that bracelet pretty fast and I really love the little suitcase, esp. since it says Paris. :thumbsup2

That pizza looks SO much better than the soup sitting in front of me right now!

Italy September 2012

Day 3, September 23

We’ll be back soon! - Part 1

It was time to think about going home again.
We woke up, took showers and then took some of our stuff down to the garage

Unbenannt.jpg

IMG_6753.jpg

before we headed over to the bakery

IMG_6755.jpg

IMG_6754.jpg

to pick up some Panini and some sweets for breakfast.

IMG_6756.jpg

IMG_6757.jpg

A few minutes later we sat down at the breakfast table full with Italian meats, olives, fresh bread and steaming coffee.

IMG_6758.jpg

We took our time eating breakfast and thought about the fun time we had had, before we both indulged in our sweet treats. Tom had opted for a

IMG_6761.jpg

vanilla cream filled doughnut and I had gotten

IMG_6759.jpg

IMG_6760.jpg

four small Profiteroles, two vanilla ones and two chocolate ones. Boy were they good! After breakfast we cleared the table, filled the ice-chest, cleaned up as good as possible and made one last round through the rooms to look for anything we might have forgotten. We transported all our stuff down to the car and filled the trunk, then went up to the front desk to settle our bill.
The owner/receptionist had already made a note of us returning in October and when we told her how much we had loved that room she made a note so that we would get the same room in October as well.
We paid our bill and were on the way back to the car when we were approached by 4 young Germans, whose car didn’t start and they asked for help. We promised to be back really soon and went to pick up the car. Once we had left the garage we turned the car around so we could help start up their car and within a few minutes their car was up and running again. Tom and I wanted to do a little more grocery shopping and take home some Mortadella, Sopressa and Salami, San Daniele and Parma ham, so we drove to the tiny grocery store,

IMG_6763.jpg

ordered our cold meats, had a Tupper box filled with fresh olives and then decided to hit the road.
Well, we didn’t get very far, as, as we followed the road we went across a harbour bridge

IMG_6764.jpg

and went down to the end of the harbour

IMG_6767.jpg

IMG_6765.jpg

IMG_6770.jpg

IMG_6772.jpg

IMG_6773.jpg

and walked around a bit. Once we returned to the car we drove to a supermarket to get some more groceries.

IMG_6774.jpg

They had an awesome offer on Barilla pasta so we bought several different kinds, then got some Panettone and Tom got some cookies and some beers to take home.
Back out at the car I was trying to fit everything into the trunk and after a bit of moving around it actually all fit in. When we got back into the car we remembered that we had forgotten to pick up some magnets we had wanted to buy for friends, so we drove back to the other end of Lignano, parked the car again and picked up the magnets.
After that we only had one more thing we wanted to do, have lunch.
So we drove along the beach and finally found a spot to park the car, then headed down to the main shopping street.

IMG_6775.jpg

We slowly walked towards the restaurant we had eaten the day before, again looking into some of the shops along the way.
It was a few minutes past midday when we arrived at the restaurant and we were the first and only guests. We had a choice of ALL the tables,

IMG_6777.jpg

finally found one and sat down. After placing our order of Diet Cokes we were served

IMG_6776.jpg

a basket of fresh rolls and some grissinis. We were determined to both order another pizza (yeah, I know, boring, but we could not resist, they were so good!). Tom ordered one of his all time favourites again, the

IMG_6781.jpg

IMG_6780.jpg

Pizza Frutti di Mare, tomatoes and fresh seafood, without cheese, which looked really wonderful and tasted wonderful as well. I had seen something the day before that I had wanted to try, the

IMG_6778.jpg

IMG_6779.jpg

Pizza Bufalotta, tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, oregano and basil. It was one of the best pizzas ever. While we sat and ate the restaurant filled up considerably and when we finally left it was nearly full.

What lovely food, but those small fish & shrimps grossed me out! I don't want my food looking back at me!:crazy2:

Bob liked the look of Tom's seafood pizza, wants one of those!

I use Barilla pasta all of the time, it's great pasta.

I love those Disney beads, my bracelet is full with nothing but the Disney beads. I'm now trying to fill my Pandora bracelet. Those beads are mostly gifts.

Italy looks so awesome. That is a dream of a trip I hope to take some day. My DH has been to Italy before and loved it. We are hoping to get there some day. It is on our bucket list for sure.

I absolutely love your bracelet. I have to ask, what kind is it and where do you get something like that? The bracelet I wear is one that I get at Disney that is jeweled and has mickey heads on it. I think they cost around $15 and I am on, I think, my fourth one. So something like that may be much better for me.. ;)

And most of your food looks awesome. Except for that fishy dish of Tom's. Yuck. However, I do like fish and I do like shrimp, but served like that, icky. Heads and tails off please. :rotfl:
