If we can DREAM it, we can do it! ..... another 30 day vacation Update 02/07

Lol!!!! I see that I accidentally posted a partial. When I get home and to a computer I promise I will "clean up" all the posts I made on your report!

AND now... I am done editing.:goodvibes

Karin the Dooney bag is fabulous!! I love the Advent calendar with the boxes!!Great news about 2014 Cruise !!!!

Hi Karin, sorry I haven't been on in a while to comment on your great pictures of your trip to DLRP. I have been sick with a nasty cold virus for the past two weeks and finally went to the Dr. and took a couple of days off work to get some rest. Had to cancel our trip to NC to visit our daughter since Mick got sick too!

I really like your Pink Dooney bag. I have yet to get a Disney one. I have two Scotty Dog ones I found at Macy's. Also, I emailed you a couple picks of our deck 9 aft veranda, you will love the view. The overhang gives you shade. We did not experience any issues with the aft cabin people on the DIS have discussed. We loved it.

Karin please tell Tom I am enjoying his advent calendars. I just got caught up and loved his telling us about the Austrian traditions. But imagine my surprise when I open the 6th and there is Tom wearing the Ohio State hat Mick gave him! We had talked about how we had forgotten to tell him when he wears it if someone randomly yells out O-H! he has to respond with I-O!!! LOL!:goodvibes:

That is a lot of good news in one post!! I love the Dooney bags, although I only have a wristlet myself. Your calendars are so cute! I love the one with the little drawers :)

At last, my work has unblocked photobucket! Don't know for how long though...

Just finished your first Italy TR and it reads like a food report! I am seriously craving some Italian pizza right now. And cold meats.

/
Love the Dooney bag Karin - you must have quiet a collection now :)

Great news on your cruise, it's always exciting when you make that booking

The view out of your window is fantastic! Some of everything - the baloon, water view, etc! How great :thumbsup2

The view was so awesome. We really need to get a room like this in the summer - it must be absolutely heavenly when the sun is up! :thumbsup2

Love your latest photos, also love the pastries & breads!:wave2:

Boo Hoo, I can't open the Advent Calendars. I get the dreaded error message & my window closes.:sad2:

I am still glad you like the photos, Doris!
Sorry you can't open the calendars. I don't think there is anything Tom can change to help you. Maybe you could change some settings on your computer? :confused3

Caught up! I'm loving the Paris pics! It is so different from everything I've seen, yet so familiar!

That's what strikes me the most about the different parks, they somehow look really familiar and on the other hand they are different to their US counterparts. What strikes me most is that I really get mixed up sometimes and am walking a certain direction, then suddenly realizing - whoops, wrong park. :rotfl2:

The Eclairs pics made me hungry and the Cheyenne pics made me smile. :goodvibes They did a great job on the theme there - how fun!

Thank you Tom for the fun Calendars! I thought it was the 3rd somewhere so I tried to cheat and open two tonight and I got the "mad Santa" message! :lmao:

I think they did such a great job with the Cheyenne. The theming is so much like the US hotels, same goes for the Santa Fe. They are a "special place" in its own right, while the rest of the DLRP hotels are more like "different hotels", but they are too close together to really have a theming kick in - don't know if I make sense here. :lmao:
I am glad you like the calendars - Tom does a great job on these every year and loves to share them with his DISfriends. :thumbsup2

Great updates Karin :goodvibes

It sounds like the parks were pretty busy but as always, you and Tom find plenty to do that doesn't mean standing in line!

Shame the CM wasn't very helpful when you were trying to buy the Dooney :headache:

Be sure to post a picture of it when it arrives :thumbsup2

Thank you, Linda!
You have no idea how stunned we were when we realized the crowds. We know that weekends are always crowded, but were hoping that with the weather not being great, some would decide against visiting. And it was just a "regular" weekend too!
Thank god we get to go so often that we have no problem skipping rides and just enjoy walking around and taking in the sights and sounds. Oh, and YES, we LOVE shopping too. :rotfl2:

I am LOVING the pictures Karin :goodvibes

I am glad you enjoy them, Jeanette! :goodvibes

Loving all the pictures. The hotel theme is great especially the "METS" sign, and the view looks amazing. Ahhh...those yummy desserts again, I'll take one of those eclairs. Tell Tom fantastic job on the calenders. So happy it's December for two reasons...1.. I can open the calenders, 2..We are leaving this month. :yay:

I am glad you enjoy the photos. We took some of those NY photos just for you and Jeff. ;) We were thinking of you and talking about you VERY often those two days.

You must be so excited! Your trip is almost here. :woohoo:

I LOVE that sweatshirt. I want one so bad, but I just don't have a way of getting one. I don't know anyone going on the Fantsay yet this year.
Cheynne is really neat looking. I just saw some pictures of it the other day on Passporters too. It has great theming, but it looks like a ghost town.

I hope you post a picture of the new Dooney when it arrives. I bought one while on our trip and then came home and bought another. Kind of like what I did last year. LOL.

It was such a surprise when our former stateroom host came up to our room and presented us with his gift! We were both blown away.
And if they still sell those when we get onto the Fantasy in August, we would happily pick one up for you. Just saying. ;)
I think they did a really great job with the "cheaper hotels" like the Cheyenne - it's not too close to the other hotels so you could really see them, even though the Santa Fe is just across the Rio Grande. And like you we were surprise to see next to no one at the resort. :lmao: But then it was close to dinner time and I am sure the parks were packed.

Hope you like the photos of my new Dooney. I already posted some pics.
:thumbsup2

First off Tom I am loving my daily calendar!!! Thank you so much for doing this every year !!! Karin I LOVED the theming at Cheyenne , sooo original !! Now those baquettes had my mouth watering , I just love fresh bread . Not that the eclairs weren't also calling my name !!!:rotfl2:

I am glad you enjoy the calendars, Rosie!
And I am happy to hear that I made you hungry with all my food pics. That's what I am famous for! :rotfl2:

Tom, thank you! Your calendars make me smile every day. :goodvibes

Karin, what is in the Divorce eclairs? Why the name, is there a story (like too many of them caused...)? I am enjoying this trip report so much! :thumbsup2

I am glad you like the calendars! :thumbsup2
As for the eclairs - I have NO idea where the name comes from. I just copied from the packet it came in. :lmao:
But I can answer your question the filling of the eclair - it was half coffee flavoured and half chocolate. They were so good!

I'm loving the calendars...DS4 likes the hats. I liked the before & after Yachtsman..and the cupcakes :flower3:

I am glad you enjoy the calendar! And happy to hear that your DS likes the hat pics. I am sure, he has some giggles to come! ;)

:yay: For the cruise and a fabulous stateroom!

LOVE the new D&B - it is really cute! I would have been hesitant to order rather than it first, but that one is very nice! ::yes::

What a cute Disney calendar corner! LOVE it!!

Thank you, Christine!
I think I am hanging too much with you resort changers - I had that stateroom for just one day and have now changed it to another one, one deck down and smack in the middle of the aft of the ship! This is supposed to have an even larger veranda. Yip I am greedy like that. :rotfl2:

Love your new Disney Dooney! I bought my new one before our trip, was going to get it at WDW, but Disney online had a sale! Saved 25% plus free shipping!:thumbsup2

Thank you, Doris.
I was pretty pleased with my new Dooney, when it arrived - and I got the same discount as in the parks. Made the decision to order MUCH easier. :lmao:

Congratulations on getting a great stateroom. :) I love your Dooney bag and the calender corner is so cute...I have the same wall calender and bought the 2013 one in the summer.

Elaine, I already changed that stateroom again. After checking photos and reading more reviews we are now one deck lower, but will have an even larger veranda. :rotfl2:
Should be nice for DISmeets! ;)
We bought the 2013 calendar too and one of the reasons to go to DLRP was to pick up one of their calendars too! Had to mail order one from Disneyland as we did not make it there this year. ;)

Most hotels here (at least the ones on the west coast that I have stayed) have continental breakfast. Some are better than others for sure... I like the ones with cook to order breakfast :)

It was always fun to be able to "fall back" on the continental breakfast offered at most west coast hotels, even though it is different to a "continental breakfast" here.

Sorry for so many posts, but I am attempting to get caught up on dis while waiting for my DH and using my cell phone. It's a slow process.

I LOVE The dragon! Parks do tend to get crowded during the holidays, don't they! Glad you didn't have much if a wait for pirates :)

No problem, Ann. Post as often as you like too - I admire you to even try to do it from your cell. I have given up on that - I somehow seem to be too clumsy for that. ;)
The dragon is a lot of fun, even though it has scared a few kids! You don't really expect it to start moving, don't you? ;)

What a cute parade. I love the holiday parades at Disney!

Love the picture of Tink sitting up there. So cute and festive.

We were so surprised and pleased, seeing this little Christmas Parade! They have had the same afternoon parade for a LONG time and just add seasonal accents to it. :lmao: So this NEW parade was a real treat. :goodvibes

They did an awesome job decorating the shops. I loved all the festive decorations. :thumbsup2

What was supposed to be an hour wait, has turned into a much longer wait so my dinner has been greatly postponed. Lucky me I'm looking at your wonderful food pictures now. Yum!

Glad to be able to entertain you during your wait. :goodvibes

That is so cool about the cruise! And your Dooney is super cute.!!! Someday I'm going to have to splurge because they are just too cute. I also really like your calendar with the drawers! What fun little spaces to put special treats!

I have had a dummy/placeholder cruise for quite a while and was stalking DCL's site for quite a bit lately. Then I read here that Gold and Platinum Castaway Club members got a day's head start to booking, so I jumped on the oportunity and it was easy to change the original booking. In the meantime I have changed the stateroom again. We have never had one at the back of the ship, but reading all those reviews and getting a heads up from friends who have been in one makes me VERY excited to cruise again.
Ann, you have to treat yourself to a Disney Dooney some day. They are really awesome! :thumbsup2
We bought the one with the drawers in Venice at the Disney store. It was easy to fill with little treats - now eating the little treats is fun too! :rotfl2:

Lol!!!! I see that I accidentally posted a partial. When I get home and to a computer I promise I will "clean up" all the posts I made on your report!

Well done editing! :thumbsup2

Thank you, Rosie!
I am sure you will help planning the cruise/s once you get back from your May one! :thumbsup2

Loved The Krampus Day lesson and pix !! The eggs benedict looked delish!!!

Tom was worried about posting the lessons, thanks for giving positive feedback, Rosie! :thumbsup2
Eggs Benedict are heaven, especially the ones from Olivia, with Key Lime Hollandaise. :cloud9:

Teresa, I hope, you and Mick are feeling better right now! Sorry you had to cancel your NC trip.
Teresa, did you know there is a Dooney factory outlet close to WDW? I bought a none Disney one for just $65 and I LOVE it - it's a tartan one. Unfortunately they do not carry the Disney ones. ;)
But you have to get one - maybe on the Fantasy in the summer? :goodvibes

Karin please tell Tom I am enjoying his advent calendars. I just got caught up and loved his telling us about the Austrian traditions. Tom and I are pleased that you like the calendars!
I am glad you liked your little surprise in the calendar. And he didn't forget to tell Tom what to answer to the random O-H!! :lmao: You told us while we were sitting out on the balcony at OKW! :goodvibes

That is a lot of good news in one post!! I love the Dooney bags, although I only have a wristlet myself. Your calendars are so cute! I love the one with the little drawers :)

Thank you so much for sharing the excitement on all the good news.
I have quite the collection of Disney Dooneys now and I love them all. Oh, and I really enjoy the wristlet I got on the DREAM during cruising - so easy to take with you! :goodvibes

At last, my work has unblocked photobucket! Don't know for how long though...

Just finished your first Italy TR and it reads like a food report! I am seriously craving some Italian pizza right now. And cold meats.

:woohoo: for being able to peek at the Disboards from work! :thumbsup2
I am glad you enjoyed the Italian food report ... ;) :rotfl2: - we just love the real pizza there, so expect some more in the Spring!

Love the Dooney bag Karin - you must have quiet a collection now :)

Great news on your cruise, it's always exciting when you make that booking

Thanks, Linda!
Yip, I do have quite a collection and I love each and every one of my Dooneys!
I was so happy when I could finally transfer my dummy and have something to count down now. I didn't want to add another ticker before I had the actual cruise in place!

Thank you, Rosie!
I am sure you will help planning the cruise/s once you get back from your May one! :thumbsup2

I knew that you can't wait to get some Disney cruises under your belt, Rosie! I am sure you are going to get hooked and will want to go every year. Your organization will have to agree to more cruising for their favourite Rosie! :thumbsup2
Glad you still enjoy the Traditions lessons and are sharing your wealth of knowledge with your young friend. :goodvibes

Day 2, November 17

Plans? What plans? - Part 10

Then, after having taken a few more pictures we crossed the bridge over to the Santa Fe Resort.

This is the resort we used to stay before we moved offsite to the villa. It was nice to revisit and walk around.

We were pleased to see that they replanted the giant Rosemary bushes

DSC_0398.jpg

they had in the beginning and that gave such a rustic feel to the resort. We even took a few samples of the Rosemary. By then it had already started to become darker and we knew we would have to hurry if we wanted to make it to the park for the tree lighting ceremony. We decided to walk along the Rio Grande

DSC_0408.jpg

DSC_0410.jpg

and along the Sequoia Lodge and were quickly back at the Lake Disney, where the balloon was still going up and down.

And by then we knew we were too late to make it through the village, and into the park on time, so we just decided to stay at the hotel and have a nice “French dinner”,

IMG_7271.jpg

which consisted of

IMG_7272.jpg

cooked ham and Serano ham,

IMG_7273.jpg

IMG_7280.jpg

Camembert and

Boursin Cheese, some

Fromage de Chevre enrobe de soleil and some

IMG_7275.jpg

Maconnaise – two small French cheeses

IMG_7278.jpg

IMG_7279.jpg

we had picked up at the cheese counter. We also had some chips, the wonderful baguette

IMG_7282.jpg

and Tom had picked up some

IMG_7258.jpg

beer, while I had some Diet Coke. We put everything out onto the table, put up the computer and watched some episodes of Chef Ramsey while having dinner.
Tom had an

apple tart for dessert, while I enjoyed my

Caramel Éclair. Once we were stuffed, and I do mean stuffed, we discussed going back to the park, but then gave up the idea, as neither of us wanted to stand in one spot for more than an hour to see the castle show.

Once we were stuffed, and I do mean stuffed, we discussed going back to the park, but then gave up the idea, as neither of us wanted to stand in one spot for more than an hour to see the castle show. So all we did was chilling for a while,

I started to pack our bags and then we wanted to head over to the Disney Village to do some more shopping.
Around 8pm we left the hotel again and walked over to the bag check area. There was quite a line and people tried to walk around, but there was one guy who stopped people with bags, BUT, he just waved people with strollers AND bags IN the strollers right through, which I think is a bit ridiculous. So far for a thorough check!
The rest of us with handbags had to wait to have the bag scanned and then head into the village. To say the village was packed would be an understatement.

DSC_0442.jpg

DSC_0443.jpg

We walked over to the Disney Store

DSC_0447.jpg

and had a good laugh, as they had taken out about a third of the merchandise and just moved it over to the World of Disney. We picked up a few things, then went to the World of Disney to pick up a few more things and ran into the cutest and happiest Cast Member ever.
When she packaged all our purchases she asked why we had bought a few things twice and we told her that we would give them away as presents. So she said she would give us a few more of the shopping bags, so we could hand those out too.
We were stunned and thanked her a few times before we left the store. The village and the stores were filled with a lot of people and once we had all our purchases, we made our way back to our hotel

to finishing packing and maybe catch up on sleep a little bit. Back at the hotel we stopped at the store one more time, bought an hour’s internet code and another small gift and then headed back to our room. When we got in we were stunned by the view out the window, now that it wasn’t foggy.

DSC_0460.jpg

The Newport Bay Hotel was mirrored in Lake Disney and it was a really wonderful sight. We took a few more pictures, then watched people having fun on the ice-rink in front of the New York,

before we finished packing and settled in our beds with the TV on. We only lasted a few minutes watching TV and turned off before we finally fell asleep.
