If there's no other free dining offer in Nov and Dec this year will you go anyway?

Last year, there were NOOO character meal ADRs available 3 months prior to our trip - I'm the type that has ADRs, but always tweaking and moving things around, and that was impossible to do.

That was not my experience. I went Christmas 09 and September 10 with FD and with the exception of the Canadian Steakhouse in EPCOT, I was able to get all restuarants (including character meals) i wanted. Sometimes I had to modify times a little but it was a good experience overall.

We missed out last Thanksgiving and FD because I had major eye issues. Due to the uncertainty of this issue I was reluctant to book a late May FD trip. Now that I am okay I am hoping for FD for Thanksgiving this year. I need a little pixie dust.

To answer the OP's question, we won't be going if we don't get FD or a really sweet package. We might do a Harry Potter trip instead.

We're going regardless the week after Thanksgiving. We are currently booked on the 35% pin at the POP, but if free dining comes out, we would save about $150. We are also going right before DD turns 3, so we want to get one more 'cheap' trip in.

I actually prefer the QSDP that hopefully will be offered for the values. A few years ago we had the regular dining plan free, and it was horrible. Our entire trip was based on ADRs, and I refuse to have dining dictate my vacation. Just my opinion though.

You are SOOO right!! DH and I were just talking about how going out to eat is so much more expensive now that the kids don't eat kids meals anymore! Come on Disney.... WE NEED FREE DINING!!!

Absolutely, I always go the same week every year and I have always budgeted it out as a package w/o any deals.

A deal is just icing on the cake.

The "free" dining is the only, only discount that I've found makes any sense for us. If I'm going to pay Disney rates on their hotels, even if discounted, be cramped into their small rooms and be stuck with crappy Disney cable channels, then I better be eating for free.

Ours is a party of 3 and we always rent a car, so "Kids stay n play free" is no good. Buy 4, get 3 is still way more expensive than staying off property, and 25/30/35% room only discount is again, more than staying in a nice condo in Kissimmee. I don't care about Disney transportation since we have a car.

Really nothing in it for us unless we go during "free" dining.

I found that on their website, but it says nothing about free dining.

Also, I priced it out the same as the package I have now with no discounts and it came up the exact same cost as my existing package.

I don't see where the deal is....

Nah. We won't be going to Disney without free dining or a room discount. I've still got my fingers crossed for November or December.

I too was tempted to book in case something came out. However I figure if I'm meant to get a pin code or a Disney Visa discount, then a room I will be happy with will "magically" appear as well.

Nope, we just can't afford it without free dining. It saves us over $1000 so it's a must. Even with it I'm not sure I can talk DH into splurging this year.

If free dining is extended you could switch to that. You couldn't get it in addition to your current discount. WDW does not allow stacking of discounts. You'd just have to run the numbers and see which is the better deal for you.

Used to be an actual land/sea package all booked together through the DCL.

Now you have to book the cruise, and then add the resort on the front or the back end of the cruise - kinda similar to regular cruises.

There were nice perks, like all the transportation is included (well, the cost is buried in there somewhere) and you got to check-in at the Disney cruise line desk at the resort.

Definately do the land part first and then the cruise. I have had friends do it in reverse and said it was not the way to go.

Get all that walking out of the way first and then do the cruise part and just re-laxxxxxxxx.
