I'm a nervous wreak when my kids are gone! Hunter went to NC for 6 weeks last summer! It was hell! ooops, did I just swear? heck, I meant heck.

I am totally trying to talk myself down but if I think about the enormity of how long she'll be gone and where she is, I feel sick. I know that's my issue and not hers and refuse to allow my neurosis to hold her back.

She's staying at the Hyatt with 149 other kids. 12 kids per faculty and 3 kids to a room (they bring in twin beds). The staff sleep on the same floor but not in the room.

I am so worried. I know I shouldn't be but oh my, she sounded homesick already on the phone last night. I am wondering if it was smart for them to go a day early after all. It gave her lots of quality time with DH but will make it harder to say goodbye. Seven days is a long time for anyone.

The only bummer is that M was under the impression that he and his father would have a car at their disposal but his aunt and uncle are wanting to drive them everywhere. 
So he'll be cruising DC with three 80 y/o and not that there is anything wrong with that but it's not what he was expecting. He was looking forward to a stress free vacation. I told him to handle it because there is no way he better come home not refreshed! 
I said to just go with it for today, call me with their addy, and I'll find a close rental car place.

So far so good, she's still with Michael. He drops her off at the forum today.
You're allowed to worry! Something would be wrong with you if you didn't. I went to DC a couple of times as a teenager and got homesick. I think that's a pretty normal reaction. After I got into all of the activities, the homesickness subsided a bit. I talked with Gab and M last night. They had a good night. M's aunt was spoiling Gab rotten. They ordered pizza last night and went grocery shopping for the week. I have him trained so well!

Chloe misses her too. The good news is that M's aunt's house is 2.5 miles from Gab's hotel! 
He says he'll take his morning run there and have breakfast with her until she tells him to scram. That makes me feel SO much better- her too. Apparently M's aunt likes the finer foods in life and that will make DH beyond happy. He's a food snob.

I guess there is some shuttle thing that you can take non-stop for two days for $35 a person. It runs all day stopping at all the hot spots. My guess is they'll do that. M is worried about his dad walking a lot. He's in amazing shape but 80 none the less.
They just called from Mt Vernon. They had fresh croissants with jam and some pastry with imported cheese for breakfast. Heavenly!

Yay Niamh, wish her good luck! Jenna's Emma started last week and I think Jenna's taste of freedom was more than she could ask for. 
He said that there were a ton of kids bawling their eyes out. 
Gab was not one of them. It did make her feel better though to know that was she is feeling is normal; excited and scared all in one. Tomorrow night is their ambassador dinner and the P2P staff told Michael that the food is unreal and some kids even take pics. I am thinking we may get a food trippie from Gab by default. The parents are only allowed to visit in the mornings for breakfast but he didn't ask why. 
Gab called when she had a minute before going to their first meeting to say she met one of her roomies, Victoria, but the other, Maddy hadn't shown up. The Hyatt told M that P2P hires private security for the kids. They have chartered busses and they are treated really well. The food is supposed to be awesome the entire trip. Tonight they get to hear one of the Coveys speak which should be inspirational.
