If Staying at AKL... is DAK the Best Park to Get to and From?

Hey all,

On our trip later this year, we’re staying at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge — Kidani Village... we’ll be there for 3 days before hopping to our next resort. I’m just wondering, since we are in a Savanna View room and will want to enjoy both that and the resort atmosphere itself intermittently while staying there, would it be recommended that we book park passes for our DAK days for most of the days we are staying there to allow ease of access to travel to and fro without wasting huge amounts of time on the busses? I was thinking perhaps days 1 and 3 at DAK and then break that up in the middle with day 2 at another park. Which one would be closest? DHS??

Does anybody have any thoughts or advice on this? They would be appreciated... thanks!

I wouldn’t necessarily book only AK for those days. The way I see it, if you have to get on a bus anyway, what does it matter where you go? In other words, it’s not like staying at The CR and choosing MK or staying at YC/BC and choosing EP/DHS.

If you wanted to go to AK anyway during your trip ( and why wouldn’t you?) then certainly, it makes some sense to go during your stay there. But then the other days, just go wherever else you want.

As Buzzrelly said, I'm not sure it matters since you are going to have to ride a bus anyway. MK is the furthest park from AKL so depending on where you are hopping to, that might be done on the second resort of the trip. Although a lot of people seem to think AKL is way out from everything, it's not really that much farther from Epcot and HS than the value resorts. Refer to Robo's wonderful maps. https://www.disboards.com/threads/maps-by-robo-wdw-places-how-to-get-there.3545729/#post-56460969

We stayed at Kidani Village in Nov. We took the bus each day to our parks. We went to Epcot (ride was 13 minutes), MK (ride was about 15 minutes) and AK (ride was really short). We haven't been to DHS in years, like since Galaxy's Edge first opened. DHS would be about the same as Epcot, maybe a few minutes shorter by bus. Buses work just fine, just avoid trying for rope drop.

Yes, I would definitely do all of your AK days while staying at Kidani. From the other resorts, AK is a bit of a hike, so might as well limit your transportation time to AK while staying at Kidani. For your other park day, while at Kidani, I would choose either EP or DHS or, if time allows, take a day off from the parks and do a resort day at AKL.

Personally a Disney vacation hasn't started until you visit MK. I have no problem with days 1 and "e" (assume that is 3 :)) at AK now that Avatar land is there. Even though you are at WL on day 4 I would still go for MK on day 2.

Lmao! “e”... whoops!
