If something happened to you, would we on the DIS find out?

years ago, I would have answered this question with a "no", nobody would know & nobody would miss me. But I found out that a lot of people knew me, and would have missed me.

Now, I know that people would find out. Not thru my family--they don't have a clue how to sign on here for me--but thru Facebook. I'm friends with a few dissers over there. I would imagine my sister would post something over there about me.

My guess is maybe yes since DD Stitchfansjr comes on here once in a while. She would tell one of her friends and maybe the news would spread.

I have friends on facebook from here and I think they'd find out so hopefully the message would be passed on.

I think if something happened to me, my Facebook friends would find out, and since some of them are DISer's, it would sooner or later be posted about here.

I'm sure my wife wouldn't even know how to get on. Since I do intend to be a ghost, I guess I'll have to let everyone know myself. Wouldn't that be cool?

Nobody would know and since I'm not a super regular I don't think it would make that much difference.

Same here. I think my husband - and especially my mom - would enjoy reading the things I've posted here, though. My mom reads these boards but doesn't post, so maybe she'd look for my name after the fact.

A couple of years ago, I would have said no but I have since made some very good friends thanks to this board and am FB friends with them so they would know anything going on with me that way.

One of those Dis friends actually works at one of my doctor's offices!

Not likely. DH would be busy with the funeral arrangements and then would probably throw himself into work. I'm not on Facebook or friends in real life with anyone here, so no one else would post of my passing.

I'm on another forum where the posters have established a "forum buddy" system. Those who want to participate exchange email addresses/phone numbers with another forum member (perhaps someone they've met IRL or long term posters they "know" well) and have that contact info on hand in case of an emergency. In the case of death (sadly, it has happened), the spouse or poster's family can easily find the contact without searching a forum to share the news. The forum buddy can post about the loss for the family.

As for the Disboards, I have 2 IRL friends here and I think they would post if something happened to me. I also have several Dis'ers as Facebook friends and I'd also hope that one of them would post for me. ETA: I hope that no one has to post for me anytime soon!

This post makes me wonder what ever became of the originator of a post a while ago. She had strange neighbors that lived across the street from her. These neighbors would pull the car in front of their hoouse and then put packages into the house through the window. They would then pull the car into the driveway and go into the house.

Apparently, this poster has Lupus and after a couple of posts on that thread she was never heard from again, even after many posters asked of her well being. Occasionally someone will bring this thread forward and ask about the originator.
