I am able to get the GF for thirteen dollars a night more than the Poly. To me, that's the same price. Not enough of a difference to distinguish.

If you could get either resort very inexpensively, and at avout the same price, which would you choose?

The stay will only be for two nights, for dd (4) and me. I have stayed at GF before, and loved it. I have very fond memories of being there, as I spent my honeymoon there. Love to sit in the lobby and people watch or listen to the music.

Is there a place to sit and people watch or listen to music at the poly? Sometimes it seems that there are many mixed reviews on the Poly. Dark and dingy, smelly rooms, questionable cm's......

Only thing I've read about GF is that people felt it was stuffy atmosphere. Never hear anything negative about the rooms, etc. I don't think it is stuffy, so that doesn't bother me.

I have to mae this decision within the next two days. Any help you could offer is appreciated.

I'd go with the GF. I don't remember anywhere to sit and listen to music inside the Poly. Their lobby is broken up with a very large planting area in the middle. The lobby is not conducive to sitting and people watching. I've stayed at Poly but not GF. I have gone to 1900 Park Fare breakfast and enjoyed looking around the GF. It is a totally different atmosphere than Poly. I also had a friend who told me years ago that GF was very cold and stuffy in atmosphere, but I have not detected that attitude there.

I would go for the Poly, mainly because I love it there and its my favorite resort.
You can sit at the Tambu lounge upstairs in the GCH. Tables & chairs extend way past what I would consider a "bar or lounge". Its more just like a big open space with big comfy chairs and tables. The last time we were there, there was a musician there too. You also get a beautiful view of the castle.

I took my twin DD's and 11 uear old DD to the Poly with my DH. They absolutely loved it. The atmaophere was more relaxed. I ahev taken them to the GF for the cooking classes and the tea party, and I get the feeling that I would feel uncomfortable with them staying there. Just to uppity for kids. I would love to stay there, but not with kids...JMHO

GF!!! :D :D It's one of my favorite resorts. :) We really enjoyed Sago Cay last October.

I'd have to go with the GF!

I think you should stay at the GF!!! especially from what you said, the GF would probably be a better choice for you! I have stayed at both, the GF 4 times and the Poly 3 times.
the Poly doesnt really have any place in the lobby for you and your dd to hang out. there isnt any live music, and the only place really is the Tambu lounge, but it's not really for little kids.

the GF lobby is wonderful for you and your dd, but you already know that!!! :)

We haven't stayed at the Poly, but we loved being at the Grand Floridian! We never found it to be stuffy, although i know others have felt that it was. I would stay there again this year, but we really want to try AKL!
