If Park Vue Inn is a good neighbour hotel, wht can't you book it thru the DL site?

Hi

I am looking at booking the Park Vue Inn for a December trip. It lists on its site that it is a Good Neighbour Hotel, but yet when I try to price out packages on the DL site, it is not listed as an option.

So is it not a GNH?

It is no longer a Good Neighbor Hotel. Doesn't mean that it has become a dump. It looked very nice when we were there last time and it is very close to the park. I think it had to do with contract negotiations

I just looked through Disneyland's website at all the Good Neighbor Hotels, and couldn't find the Park Vue listed. And I know I looked a couple of years ago as well, and didn't find it then either. We always stay there, and I think the Park Vue's website used to list it as a Good Neighbor Hotel (it still might say that.....). And I remember thinking it was strange after our first trip that there was a discrepancy regarding its status.

Anyway, its definitely not a luxurious place by any means. But its decent, cheap, and we love the location and free breakfast. We always just reserve our hotel room through the Park Vue's website, and get our park hoppers from the DL website (print the ticket out at home). Every year I price it out, and it is always cheaper than any packages Disney is offering for other moderate hotels in the area. I know sometimes packages offer extras, but we never need more than hotel + tickets.

It is not a Good Neighbor Hotel but it is the closest hotel to Disneyland, probably even closer than the Disney Hotels. As mentioned, it isn't fancy but it isn't a complete dump, pretty basic place to sleep. They have a bad pool so if this important to you don't stay here but they do have a really good breakfast and like I said, it has the best location possible.
If you do stay here, request a room on the second floor as I believe on the first floor you can here people walking upstairs.

Okay...here's what I think I've learned from my research into hotels...

There are 3 types of off-site DL hotels/motels.

Type 1 is your Good Neighbor. It is the one you can get great package deals from through places like the Disney website, GAT, and so on. Jolly Roger is an example of a hotel in this category.

Type 2 is ALSO Good Neighbor but NOT endorsed by Disney. I'm sure contracts has something to do with this, but if you look, you will notice that the hotels in this category still have package deals that get you discounts on tickets, hotel rooms for cheaper, and do on. This would be Park Vue's category. If you look at their website you'll see that they offer the same deals as other places.

Type 3 are the non-Good Neighbor places. The only thing that distinguishes these from the other two types is that they offer no package deals. They don't work with Disney at all. You would find Desert Inn and Suites in this category.

So, having said this, you will not be able to book Park Vue through the Disney website, however, if you call them at 800-334-7021 or go to their website http://parkvueinn.com/ you will see that they do, indeed, offer packages. I have heard that you get cheaper rates if you call them directly. HTH!!

Actually, if you go to the Desert Inn and Suites homepage it displays the Good Neighbor logo as well. I do not see a link for packages, however, I have not looked very hard. I have wondered this same thing. There does not seem to be much rhyme or reason to it. I just ignore the logo, and go by reviews from the people here as well as Trip Advisor.

Sorry, guess I was un-clear. I meant that while all these place offer up the "Good Neighbor" logo, they have the 3 different levels of perks I mentioned above. I was told by a DI&S employee that they don't do deals with Disney because their sister hotel, Desert Palms, does. Perhaps that has something to do with it?
