Hi,
We are taking four kids (3,4,7,9) in April and want to only make one ADR. We're paying out of pocket, but want a cool experience....maybe a character meal or cool place.

Any ideas? My 1st thought was a Chef Mickey's brunch, esp considering the ages of my kids. Any thoughts???

Thanks~!

I would like to recommend Crystal Palace also .(dinner???).....it is a fun place with pooh and friends and our 9 year old neighbor loved this whole meal and experience...we went to this one recently because my grandkids were 3 and almost 5 .....and not so sure about the characters.....they loved it and the food was pretty darn good for a buffet.....the desserts were fantastic..

we have also done the Chef Mickeys breakfast and enjoyed that as well.

Hope you have a great time

We love both Chef Mickeys and Crystal Palace. Depends on what characters your kiddies will like, or if even they will. Some kiddies can get scarred of the characters. Both places are buffet style. Have fun!

Ohana! If you want characters they offer them at Breakfast. And dinner is all you can eat ( like a buffet but they bring it to you in Family style portions)

Ohana for dinner is a great experience!! so much fun, and there are games for the little ones! And if you get the right ADR time and ask for a window seat. You get a great view of wishes (they que in music)

^^^ Hi neighbor! ;) Considering the ages of the kiddos I would recommend any of the character meals at any of these restaurants:

In order of preference,
1. Chef Mickeys breakfast or dinner at the Contemporary Resort (buffet)
2. Cinderella's Royal Table in Magic Kingdom breakfast, lunch, or dinner (not a buffet)
3. Crystal Palace breakfast, lunch, or dinner in Magic Kingdom (buffet)
4. Restaurant Arkeshus breakfast, lunch, or dinner in Epcot's Norway (not a buffet)
5. Tusker House breakfast in Animal Kingdom (buffet)
6. Cape Mae Cafe breakfast at the Beach Club Resort (buffet)
7. Ohana's breakfast at the Polynesian Resort (not a buffet)

Other character meals we've never tried:
8. 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian
9. Garden Grill in Epcot
10. Hollywood and Vine in Hollywood Studios

Go here http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/dining/disneydining.cfm to look at all the menus.

Enjoy planning! :thumbsup2

I would definitly do a character meal! I personally prefer the breakfast ones but I've enjoyed all of them. (plus breakfast cheaper) Maybe find out what characters they want to meet the most. These are the characters we saw:

Ohana- lilo, stitch, mickey, pluto

chef mickey's- mickey, minnie, pluto, goofy

Tuskar House-Donald,mickey,daisy,goofy

hollywood and vine-jojo, goliaith, leo,june

crystal palace- pooh, tigger, eyore, piglet

garden grill-mickey, chip and dale, pluto
:)

To OP, if you want to see pictures of the character meals I listed above, click on my Trip Report (in my siggy) to see some photos with the characters in each of the restaurants. As I said, we didn't try 1900 Park Fare, Garden Grill, or Hollywood and Vine.

To add to this, 1900 Park Fare breakfast at the Grand Floridian has Pooh, Tigger, Alice in Wonderland, The Mad Hatter and Mary Poppins. At dinner there is Cinderella, Prince Charming, Anastasia and Drizella.
The Cape May Cafe has Donald, Minnie, Mickey and Goofy for breakfast.

Chef Mickey's food is awful. Granted the kids may not care, but why not pick a place with very good food if you only get one!

I would go with either Akershus lunch (adults will love the food, kids get real plated food choices, and you get to see multiple characters, and you get a FREE picture with a character) or Boma (every one loves the food here - if there is something the kids really like and you don't see - ask for it! - the waiters aim to please! - before or after, go visit the animals on the savannah outside). Food is excellent quality at both these venues.

Here are the characters at each of the restaurants. Note there is some overlap, but certain characters will only be found in certain restaurants. For example, Lilo and Stitch are only at Ohanas; and Daisy is only at Tusker House.

Characters at Meals:

1. Chef Mickeys: Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto
2. Cinderella's Royal Table in Magic Kingdom: Cinderella (for photo package included with price of meal), then Fairy Godmother, Mice (Perla and Susie). Breakfast and lunch is all princesses (no Fairy Godmother or Mice). It's been reported that starting next month dinner will be all princesses just like breakfast and lunch, so no more Fairy Godmother and Mice.
3. Crystal Palace: Pooh, Eeyor, Tiger, and Piglet
4. Restaurant Arkeshus: Belle (for photo package included with the price of meal), then Snow White, Aurora, Ariel and Cinderella. Sometimes they'll substitute Ariel and Jasmine.
5. Tusker House breakfast: Daisy (only character meal you'll see her), Donald, Mickey, Goofy, and Pluto
6. Cape Mae Cafe breakfast: Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto
7. Ohana's breakfast: Lilo and Stitch (only character meal you'll see them), then Mickey, Donald, and Pluto

Other characters:
8. 1900 Park Fare: for breakfast is Pooh, Tiger, Mary Poppins, Alice, and the Mad Hatter. For dinner is Anastasia, Drizella, Cinderella, and Prince Charming.
9. Garden Grill: Chip and Dale (only character meal you'll see them), Mickey, and Pluto
10. Hollywood and Vine: Jojo, Goliath, June and Leo

I just read your trip report! It looks like you had such a fun time! You pictures are absolutely beautiful! Are you a photographer by chance? I also love, love the matching outfits. I am scouting out some for our dinner to Ohana!

In response to this thread, we love Ohana, Whispering Canyon, and Crystal Palance! Ohana and WC are really the most fun though! How can you top stick pony rides and coconut races during dinner! fun fun!!

Definitely Crystal Palace! I have only been there for breakfast but have heard good things for lunch and dinner as well.

Reading all your suggestions makes me so excited! We only wanted to "schedule" one ADR, because we REALLY don't want our schedule to be based on food. (One of our kids is on a restrictive diet, and while he's on it, we've started focusing on FUN, not so much FOOD) That's why only one "sit down" event. But it might be hard considering all the options.

Off to peruse the menus and make a final determination....THANKS soooo much!!!

Can't wait can't wait can't wait!!!
