If one is staying at the DLH, can you cut through the GC to get to DCA?

Is this faster than going through Downtown Disney and in through the esplanade? How would I do it? I have read about an entrance to the GC that is around Club Libby Lu (sp?) How do you provide proof that you are a guest of one of the onsite hotels? Is this easily done? Knowing me, I will be wandering around lost as can be...

So many questions, so little time - so thanks for helping me make the most of my vacation time!

If you are staying at the DLH you can walk through DTD and go right to the entrance of DCA without too much stress.

Otherwise you can enter the GCH at its DTD entrance and walk through the "conference room hallway", head left through the main lobby and out the doors, walk past Storytellers, take a right at the end by Napa Rose and then a quick left around the corner and VOILA you are there near the Grizzly River rapids ride. No one has ever stopped, questioned me, or asked to see ID. Only show my tickets and in I go. Maybe they did this at one time but I don't think they do it now.

When you stay onsite, you are given a little white slip of paper that you show when you want to charge something to your room, when you want to get in for Magic Mornings, and when you want to go through that GCH entrance.

I'm not 100% sure it's worth it to go through GCH, unless you really want to come out and ride Grizzly without walking past Soarin' etc. I'm not sure it saves that much time. I could be wrong, though. :)

But for the record, the entrance into GCH is between Libby Lu (on the right) and Sephora on the left, with Haggen Dazs across from it.

They will check your guest slip on the way in, but anyone can use the exit to wander out. Just go in past Libby Lu, turn left and head towards white water snacks - you'll see the other entrance on your left there.

As for close - well it depends on what you want to ride.:) It drops you pretty much in the middle.

I just have to say I've never been checked. I've used that as an entrance and an exit umpteen times (I'm an AP holder) and no one has asked to see the white slip of paper. Sometimes I have been actually staying at the hotel and sometimes I've been staying at one of the other Disney hotels, and sometimes I've just gone down with other people for the day and zero times I've been checked. The only thing that might be different for me is that I never go on a peak day/season (like xmas)...

Make sure you have that slip or room card. I wasn't there during peak time, but I wasn't allowed to use that entrance...even though no one was there. It was funny because the front entrance to DCA was empty anyway, so there was no real advantage. But if you are there during summer or spring break it probably would be an advantage. You can also use the monorail in the morning to get into Disneyland...not sure if that is any faster (and I love to see Main street in the morning), but it could be fun. After the morning anyone can use the monorail, but whenever I have been there that first run is saved for DLR hotel guests.

Yes, we've been asked for our white charge slip when using GCH's entrance into DCA. From what I've read and experienced, it's usually during the first hour or two in the morning. Around noon they release the restriction since people may be taking a break from DCA and eating at WWS. The above posters gave you great directions. Any guests of the 3 DLR hotels can use this entrance, don't forget your white charge slip just in case.
