if not staying at universal hotel entry time

If we are not staying at a universal hotel, what time can/should we arrive at the parks? what time do they open parking? do they direct you to harry potter area or is there a way we should go? we have been there but never before opening time which seems to be a good idea when we go next week due to crowds.

If the parks open at 9, be there at 8:15 at the latest. They generally start letting the general public in at least 15 minutes early.
