If not doing parades....

If we were not going to see any parades, should we enjoy attractions near the parade area or away from the parade route? Do the crowds not watching the parade usually stay away from the area? If so what rides do you guys recommend riding during parade times?

During the parades, the rides are definately less crowded. At MK, we enjoyed Fantasyland pretty much to ourselves. Another year, we walked on BTMRR and Splash Mountain. If you plan on skipping a parade, go for the attractions you've missed or one you want to do again.

If you haven't seen the parades, though; I'd recommend you see both parades at MK.

Go for the rides that usually have the longest waiting lines!! But be advised, others may have the same plan. It is definitely a good time though to get a greatly reduced wait time!!!

We never stop for the parades... the rides are always less crowded then...
Definitely try to plan the "long wait" rides during parade times.

1) There will be a new parade in the MK late August/early Sept. You may want to see it once if you will be there a few times during your trip.

2) If you plan on hitting a few rides during the parade, pick a land that has the most you want to do. A bit before the parade begins, you will not be able to travel very far or very quickly once they start blocking stuff off for the parade route.

We didnt do any day parades.. and we found that it works better to go to attractions away from the parade. We got stuck in Animal Kingdom for a while because we were fighting through a parade.. Trust me not good lol!

Like others have said, pick one land/area that you want to hit and stay there. The parades aren't that long, and most rides (of course, depending on the time of year you visit) won't be walk-ons. So you will probably only get one or two done. So pick wisely. And a lot of people start lining up atleast 30 minutes before the parade starts to get good seats. So you will start seeing lines clearing out for a little bit before the parade is scheduled to start.
