Why are we not seeing any deals for Jan/Feb 2007? I thought it was value season. Don't they want to bring people into their parks?

I really didn't want to pay $3000 for a 4 day trip.

Any input?

So should I just book now to lock in a rate (they are going up on a daily basis, it seems!) and keep checking. Then call CRO if I see something I can use (I don't have an AP)?

Thanks!

The rack rates won't change between now and then, so I'm not sure what you mean by "going up on a daily basis".

There's no way of knowing if there will be any discounts offered.

Last year the offer was for free water park add ons. I think the only room discounts were for AAA and AP holders.

Then maybe certain rooms at certain prices are selling out? Like airline tickets. You may see a rountrip for $199, then go in the next day and the lowest fare is $250. I will query a resort, for example, on one day and then the next day it is maybe $50 higher. BWI was $2200 for my package the other day, now it's over $2500. So it looks like the rates go up, so I'd better lock in, right? There is no chance of them going down, right?
Thanks!

A little confused: $3000 for 4 days. Do you have alot of people or are you staying at a Deluxe? We are 4 going 2/2-2/11, at POFQ with park hoppers for $2200. Got the deal from AAA, but they will continue to look for the normal, small deals like free park hopper upgrade and apply to my trip!

We are 2 adults 1 child going for 4 nights early Feb. I am looking at deluxes, and also POFQ, with dining plan and park hoppers. I have POFQ priced out as $1850. WL is $2150, and Poly, BWI, BC are about $2500. I was also including airfare in that $3000. Sorry for the confusion.

Yes, certain room types could sell out but I am thinking you aren't getting apples to apples. You should double check the following items:
- dining plan
- # of park days
- hoppers
- fun & more
- room type

Usually it automatically makes the passes hoppers and fun, so you may have taken off one or more of those features.

The identical package with the same room type will be the same from now until checkin unless a promotion comes out or ticket prices go up, otherwise there will not be a change

Booking a room type in advance will not guarantee that you will get that room at a discount. When discounts are released they don't always include all catergories of rooms. If you want to book a package now that you intend to keep if no discount is released, that is always advisable. However, don't book a room type that you will not keep if NO discount is released--that will be too disappointing. Keep in mind that the dining plan is going up next year, but I think only by $1 a day, so that should be the only increase you should see. As for last year, I got a great AP rate on my room at Pop for $49 a night. However, I fear that great discount is long gone, but it would be nice to see any discounts. As someone mentioned, I don't believe there were room only discounts released to the general public and the package only had some extra perks. I'm not expecting to see anything released until late October, early November. We are booked at the WLV for Feb. 4-9 and need a place for Feb. 3, so will be watching to see if I can save a little extra on a room, but we are AP holders.

If the price of your package is changing from day to day, it's because of the airfare. The price of the rooms, dining plan, and park tickets will NOT change between now and your check-in date unless there is a discount code released which makes it cheaper. I'd say there is a pretty good chance of some discounts for Jan/Feb., but there's no guarantee. Unfortunately, airfare prices will continue to increase from now until then.

If you are sure you are going whether or not there are discounts, I'd book the package without airfare and book the airfare separately. That will make it much easier to change to a discount package rate later if codes come out and you'll lock in decent airfares now.

EDIT: I read your post again and now I'm not sure if you were saying that you are including airfare in the package.
Like another poster said, the rack rates for rooms will not change between now and then. They are set for the year. I agree that if you are seeing the price of a package (without airfare) change from day to day, you are not looking at an identical package.

I understand that hotels start looking at their vacancy rate about 45 to 60 days in advance and that is when they are start advertising discounts to boos their bookings if need be.
