What will they do if the party is a complete rain out? Just curious if anyone has went to customer service at disney magic kingdom on this?

No refunds. There could be a Cat 5 hurricane going on and you won't get a refund. Just chalk it up to bad luck.

In general, the hard ticketed events (i.e. MNSSHP, MVMCP) go on as scheduled even if it rains the whole time. Some modifications may happen at the party due to weather, but they are not cancelled. I know I have heard that if the ground is too wet, the Headless horseman does not do his run prior to the parade since the horse could slip from running so fast on such a smooth surface. They can cancel the parade and/or fireworks if necessary too. I do know that somewhere here on the boards, there was a thread a couple of years ago about a party that was nothing but a torrential downpour all evening. They did cancel the parades and the fireworks. A couple of posters here on the boards had attended that party. They did report that Disney did make it up to those that complained at GS that evening. IIRC, they could get a ticket to another party or a refund (if they were unable to attend another party night). I wouldn't count on Disney doing anything though. I think that this particular night was REALLY REALLY bad and that's why they did something for those who complained. It is a LOT of $$ for bad weather, but it's the gamble you take. BTW, I :lovestruc the MNSSHP. :goodvibes

A few years ago Dh and I attended MVMCP. It POURED, not just rained, the entire evening. Pouring as in the drains were not even working quickly enough and there were rivers running over our feet. Everything was cancelled.

When we got back from our trip, I wrote a letter to Disney and explained the situation. They very kindly sent us two one-day tickets to Disney!

If it is a complete washout and they cancel parades and fireworks, They MIGHT give youa one day ticket, or a ticket to another party. They will not give you cash back, and they don't just announce a refund. You have to go to Guest services and complain to get it.

We went to MVMCP 5 years ago. It rained 4 inches that night, starting at 6pm. Our friends did not go and received refunds. We decided to brave it out. What we did not realize was that no parades or special shows would happen during the evening. We did more rides than ever, and rode many attractions that had always been to busy in the past. Definately a memory we will never forget, but we certainly missed a lot of the special features of a party.

We asked the same question at a Pirate and Princess party we went to. They told us they will only refund if both the fireworks and the parade were cancelled. They also told us that it was very rare that both would be cancelled.

I was there that night for many hours and it was absolutely disastrous. SOME guests received another party ticket or one-day park passes. My daughter and I didn't get them when we eventually gave up and left the party. I found out about the (selective) compensation later that night, tried the next morning to get it, and was treated with absolute rudness (with no compensation). Based on that experience, I cannot see our EVER again paying for Disney's overpriced party tickets. Given how much it would cost for a family of 6, it's just way too big of a gamble!

For me, I'm probably soured on this part of Disney forever - not because of the weather (that they clearly can't control) but how everything was handled that night and the next day. I'm even mad they kept advising us to stay (to "wait it out" for what ended up being hours) because I think given the extreme conditions it was irresponsible and unsafe and motivated at least in part by their not wanting to give refunds. I have heard my experience is extremely unusual, however, so others should probably take it with a grain of salt. Unfortunately, it's ungraved in my brain!

Sorry for the rant, OP. In answer to your question, my experience is that even in disastrous conditions, you may end up being out the money you spend on the tickets.

Last year when we attended the Halloween party, it had poured in the late afternoon, then continued to rain during the evening. The party still went on, and was busy considering the yucky weather out. It was our last evening at Disney, so we made the most of it and had fun.

We were at MK last year, arriving with our AP's, but holding tickets for the PPP that night. Shortly before the party officially started (around 5 pm, IIRC) it was POURING, I've never seen rivers flowing through Fantasyland before, but there were that time! I went back to guest services at the front of the park and was allowed to exchange our unused tickets for another night. She said if they had been used there were no refunds and exchanges allowed.

This is why we no longer do Disney parties!!! Last year we paid $150 for two bags of candy and 45min of ride wait times. Never!!!!!!!!!!!!!! again.

I was there!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And it was horrible, it was as if the heavens opened up and just poured water on us and then when it stopped the steam came out to finish us off. so bad we, my family and I, decided never to do any of the parties again MNSSHP and MVMCP. In my opinion it’s just not worth it, without a rain check.

Best thing to do is plan your vacation with the party repeating itself on another night before you go home. This way, if events are cancelled due to rain you can ask for a ticket to the next party before you leave the park.

You should ask for the replacement party ticket and be prepared to leave early (but follow the instructions of the CM) so they can't pin you down for "enjoying the entire evening" when events don't take place at all and you finally ask for a replacement ticket on the way out at closing time.

One day complimentary regular-hours theme park tickets have dubious value, possibly as little as three dollars each off of your ticket budget, unless your next vacation is for three or fewer days.

Don't expect a ticket to another event if you get rained out. The best that you may be offered is 1 day free admission to the MK. Adding additional Guests to a different event date would cause over crowding and would be difficult to administer.

The party goes on Rain or Shine...Ours was a little of both this year! You've just got to resolve yourself to have fun no matter what. :thumbsup2

Disney sells too many tickets for their parties, and it is over crowded to start. In my opinion. We did it once and never again.

I guess others have had a wonderful time but it's just not for us.
