what do you usually vote for on andromedaslov polls? i never saw anything that said if you were supposed to look for technique, feeling what ever... usually i pick the one that makes me think " i wish i was at wdw" but that's just me...so do you vote for the picture ( ie technical excellence ) the feeling or something else ( like you took it... hehe)

I vote for the picture that looks the most to me like if I took it I would hang it in my house....

I just vote for what I think is the best picture. It's a combination of composition, subject, lighting, color, sharpness, clarity, etc. Probably the biggest pluses for me are cute kids having fun, good composition, and freedom from significant flaws (camera shake, over/underexposed, etc).

I usually vote for the picture that makes me say to myself. "I wish I took that picture" or "I've never thought to look at that from that angle"

I don't always vote for technical/composition excellence (though often I do!). Sometimes I go with what fits the theme best (perhaps a quick snapshot of someone's kid eating ice cream would fit the bill!). or if a pic just stands out from the others, or makes me go 'wow!'.

So, I know that means my votes don't have any judging consistency from week to week, but it's all in good fun!

I usually vote every week, and I pick the picture that makes me say "Wow - what a great shot! Wish I could take one like that." It could be technical prowess (like a great night-time shot, since they're so hard to take), or maybe it's the expression on a child's face that makes the shot so neat, or like somebody else said, a shot of something taken from a unique angle. I don't have any set "criteria" for voting; I just enjoy seeing everyone's pictures and getting ideas for my shots. :thumbsup2

Same here. Normally the ones that I go "Wow" or really catch my eye. And I normally try to stay with what the topic is for the "Poll".

I really am amazed at some of the pictures I see posted. They are GREAT!

It is supposed to be the best shot straight from the camera. So that could be technicaly best or one with the most emotion. Like that youngster sleeping with the red hat.... Didn't bother entering after seeing that one.

...in the first round, because after that, it ain't an issue :teeth:

I love taking pictures, but I don't know enough to judge technical merit. I usually vote for what I think reflects the theme and that appeals to me as being a picture I wish I had taken. The strange thing is, I don't seem to vote with the majority for the most part :confused3 , but I gues that's what makes me special

I look at the subject matter as requested in the contest combined with composition and much of the time I respond to how clear and clean a photo looks but if the composition and subject are awesome I will over look grainy or less clear photos. I am pretty sure I have entered a photo or two that were scanned from old pictures I took a few years ago before I got a digital camera.

I think first I look for it to be a bright, clear picture ( one I would enjoy seeing on my desktop maybe). Then I look for the one that best conveys the subject to me. And I have to add that I don't usually vote for any with real people in them ( like the photographers family) because that destroys the illusion for me that I am the one seeing this scene through my eyes. Does that make sense?

I usually vote for my favorite photo wether it is technically right or not. It should be fun and make you remmeber what it was like to be there or say to yourself, "where was that taken? I want to go there next time!" Or it could be one wiht the most emotion in the photo. I'm another who knew that I was going to vote for the sleeping santa/mickey boy. I also voted for the older ladies runiing through the fountain cuz thats' what I want to be like and I'm so glad that they are able to act like little kids despite their age!

I eccho PoohJen. It depends on what the subject is. Sometimes there may be a great picture from a technical and composition stand point, but might not fit the specific subject at hand. Where as a simple little picture that technically could use some help, but the subject is perfect, that may get the vote. It changes from week to week. In the end my vote is really about what I think is the best overall picture. And then even before that, its all in good fun.

Of course that is after I have already voted for my own picture. :teeth:

I vote for Bob's stuff, cause I know him (that and most of the time I really like his pics.) Let it be known though, I do not vote all the time. Onlly when I remember, which has been about three times :)

I always vote for my picture :rotfl: :rotfl: after that I vote for the one which either makes me smile, sigh, or wish I had taken it.

Along with what many have said, I vote for the picture that evokes emotion in me...whether that emotion is envy "wish I could take a picture like that" or awe "why didn't I ever think to shoot that from that angle" or just wishing I was at WDW instead of at my office! :)

I hope to have more to contribute to these boards after our trip next week, since I've only ever entered one contest, and I've learned SOO much from just seeing what others have done!

I vote for the best picture! usually mine. :wave2: :wave2: :wave2:

That is unless I am up against Dan Murphy!!!!!!

Either way we all owe andromedaslov a big THANK YOU for doing the contest. She spends a lot of time running the contest.

yep, it's one of my favorite things on this board :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
