If I was CEO of Disney...

I would make a annual pass that was good at both WDW and Disneyland! A lot of people would buy that I think! :rolleyes1 I live in Seattle and it is very hard to save up that much money to fly down to Orlando more then once a year, but I can easily drive to Cali. Don't you all think this is a good idea?!?

Anyone else have anything they would do differently if they were CEO of Disney?

I would lower ticket prices, improve on the tv shows, and cancel gay day. I would give some of the rides a makeover and close down the stuff that people don't ride as much as the others.

huh? :confused3

Of course lower ticket prices, but economics prevents that. Otherwise I would definitely love to see some sort of Annual Pass for both parks I would be nutty enough to buy it. An improvement on dining and increasing the character meals at Disneyland would be good.

Also what about a Disney Airline, that would be so much fun!

I think that LOST, and the Disney Channel shows (except the Doodlebops) are great.

I would refurbish the older rides like Carousel of Progress and revive some of the rides from the past and open a special area just for them, attractions, etc. . I would call it "Classic Disney". Then I would have a separate section called "Villain Sanctuary" where all the villains would be highlighted in attractions, rides and Character Greetings. (Now you know why I'm not a CEO) :teeth:

I would invest in expanding the monorail system, or replace it with a train system that would accomodate all resorts and parks.

ooooh all that sounds cool! :earboy2:

I would charge the marketing department to come up with valuable incentives for frequent guests. I would charge guests relations with coming up with a way for people to actually get a reservation for breakfast at CRT without them having to wake up at an odd time of the morning, dial from three seperate phone lines just to be told SORRY!
I would publish an 800 # to the reservation centers. I would improve those reservation centers by implementing strict call management and call quality standards. For example, at least 90% of the calls would have to be answered within five minutes.

I would settle for a discount on tix for any of the other Disney parks if you hold an AP for one. We are also in Seattle and had AP's for CA and were very disappointed to have to pay full price for a one day last minute trip when our flight was delayed in January.

I believe the question was what would I do if I was CEO. Now, it is obvious that no one on here is going to be CEO so it is a fantasy at best no matter what our answers are. So I stand by what I said about lowering prices. Like anything else, if you lower prices you can increase revenue because you can actually get more customers. I am in retail and our best days are when we have specials and discounts. The same thing could hold true for Disney. I honestly believe that prices are not totally relied on economics but on the greed of the people in leadership. They are the ones that make that decision. Why do the need to make $20 million a year? Who needs that kind of money? But then again, it is just my opinion, right?

I'd turn thr area of the castle that was going to be Walt's apartment into a type of Cinderella suite and have a Cinderella and Prince Charming meet and greet in there. :flower:

Myst

Ooohh... good one!!

I love this idea! I've always thought there should be more to the inside of the Castle! Imagine a big, beautiful throne room for the meet and greet!

If I were CEO, I'd bring Roy Disney and the Animators back! I'd open up the working studio at Disney Studios again and incorporate some hands on guest interactive places where possible. I took a tour of the animation building and an animators "class" there once and it is one of my fondest Disney memories.

It's small, but I'd bring back the Disney Home store at DTD, get the Disney Stores back from Children's Place and bring back the Art of Disney Stores.

I'd also create a Disney Travel/Discovery channel. With lots of Disney destination shows and "Behind the Scenes/How'd they do That?" type shows.

On the other end of the spectrum, since the parks are pretty busy even during the discounted value season, there is no need to discount prices. You'd be giving it away. Why not raise ticket and resort prices? You'll get a few less customers, but you won't have to hire as many CMs and the attractions/resorts would get less wear and tear=less maintenance cost. You could also jack up the prices on disney merchandise. Even though you'd probably sell less (but not much), you'd get a higher profit margin and wouldn't have to hold huge amounts of inventory. That money could be used to pay quality staff members=better, more educated work staff, more R&D for better, more imaginative rides, etc. As far as top execs at Disney making $20 million, you're way off. Eisner's salary for 2004 was $1 million. He also received approx. $7.5 million in bonuses (stock incentives, etc.). In all honesty, I think the idea behind the thread is what kind of fun, cool changes would your average super Disney fan, like most of us are, make to the parks, not a genuine debate about the economic impact of ticket price fluctuations at the park.

I agree with aspects of Laugh's idea. Raise ticket and hotel prices and use the extra money to make the park and resort experience better for everyone. Return WDW to the highest quality vacation experience in the world.

It's a shame that as CEO, you are not considering your clients but yourself. My suggestions are for the average person. I remember the glory days of WDW and that was when prices were at their lowest. But you are right. This is not supposed to be an economical debate so let's enjoy he thread for what it is suppose to be. That is fun.

Are we talking about being a good CEO or being a lovable guy? ;)
Actually, I would love to see SM gutted and have Disney put in a coaster more like MGM's Aerosmith coaster. That would be incredible. I've heard that at DL, SM has been renovated and there is now a "blast off" much like the beginning of RNRC. Yes, I'll think I'll take 2 helpings of that dish, please!
