If I purchase an annual pass via WDW site, how soon can I book FP+?

I am planning on purchasing Target gift cards at a discount on December 4th then purchase Disney gift cards on December 5th and use them to purchase annual passes. My day to book fast passes is December 17th. How quickly after I purchase the annual pass online can I link it to my MDE? Do I need to wait for something to arrive in the US mail or is it instantly done online?

You can do it immediately. I bought APs the night before I went and was able to book FPs right after purchase and linking.
