If I only had a food budget of $50 a day, here's a sample of what I might plan to eat...

Everything includes tax and (where applicable) the recommended 18% tip so my $200 got me 6 TS meals, two of which are buffets. I get a small breakfast each day (how I prefer things) a solid lunch and dinner as well as an extra tasty snack. It is vacation after all! Plenty of food, plenty of indulgences! You may notice that there's an absence of drinks, but that's because I'm a water drinker...I get ice water everywhere I go. Always have...always will!

So, how about you? What would you do with $50 a day?

Awesome! I wish posts had "like" buttons. I would totally like this one :)

$50 a day? What happened to $40 a day?? Darn inflation!!! :rotfl2:

:lmao:

$40 a day still exists...I put a link in earlier...but with the recent price increases, selection for TS got fairly limited so I thought I'd give $50 a day a try.

For our party of 10 for a day at Disney Hollywood studios last year, we first ate a big breakfast at the condo before arriving at rope drop. We bring a cooler back pack with 15 sandwiches, fruit, granola bars, cheese cracker, and juice boxes. This keeps the party happy till 4 p.m. (two out of the party of 10 bought soft drinks, other than that no food purchases). At 4 p.m. we have a counter service meal burgers, chicken tenders, fries, and soft drinks for everyone. While in line for Fatasmic six of the 10 get Disney desserts -- Mickey Ears or cookie sandwiches. Then after the show on the way home, we go to Wendy's drive through and order some burgers off the dollar menu. Back at the condo we supplement this with milk, juice, salad, coleslaw, grapes, and strawberries. All in all I thought we had a very inexpensive theme park day in terms on monies put out for food for our large party.

(Doesn't really apply to post topic, but with your own kitchen and Disney's friendly policy of letting you bring your own food in, you really don't have to be forking out a lot of money for food.)

i love this thread like i love the "what did you spend on your disney vacation" thread. i love seeing what other people are doing, how they're getting good deals, etc.

Time to resurrect this baby again...

I have two more plans with 3 TS meals per day for $50 per day including taxes and tip...just to prove it's possible. It requires a bit of travel (most breakfast places are at various resorts) but if you don't like quick service and want to dine on a budget...this is the plan to check out!

I'll do them in two seperate posts. Plan #1:

If I only had $50 a day to spend on food at Disney…

And plan #2:

I've always wanted to try the afternoon tea at the Grand Floridian but...I don't drink tea. :lmao: But, I decided to (hypothetically) go there anyway on an AK day. It made the most sense for my own personal touring plan (it's my least favourite park so I spend the smallest amount of time there) and you can see I order a few things a la carte and drink chocolate milk. :rotfl:

If I only had $50 a day to spend on food at Disney…

stayhomemom...I was surprised at the options when I was reading the $40/day but then, I followed you on over here and I'm completely blown away by the 3 TS for $50/day. Bravo!! I was running the #'s in case free dining comes along for my Dec. trip. I have a room discount now and I'm going to stick with it. I would have had to buy an extra ticket because one of us has an AP, I would have had to stick to a dining schedule - YUCK - and I would still have tips coming out of pocket to account for. We aren't even breakfast eaters...just drink coffee (lots of coffee until about noon) so I can come in under budget or, eat some pricier meals! I am writing down all of these gems for planning ~ Thank you!

Sometimes, I'm more interested in an appie and dessert (or two appies) than I am an entree, so I thought I'd focus on some TS places where I'd be likely to apply this eating style. I'd likely share with hubby (do love that man :love2: ) but he'd let me steal a few bites of his entree so it would be enough food.
