...it will be too soon!! I'm STILL trying to get my kids toys out of their darn packaging. Why in the world do they package toys like this?! So far I've broken one nail - omg does it still hurt from yesterday - and I've sliced one of my fingers open on sharp twist ties. I think someone needs to start a business where they come to your house and unpackage all the toys and put them together for a nominal fee! I'm in!!!

I agree. I have bought fine china that wasn't packaged as securely as a Barbie Doll. :confused3

We said the same thing....I guess they think these toys will just pop right out of the box while on the shelves. Not only are they twist tied in the box, but they have strings and tape to boot. I sat for about 45 minutes with my scissors opening up everything that was available.

Here's to the old timey toys that came in a box or bag!!

Someone could make a lot of money with an invention that undoes or cuts those ties easily. I hate them too.

A good wire cutter/diagonal cutter goes through the ties like a warm knife through butter.

My Mom would tell you about all the poor kids in third world countries that work 10 hours a day putting on all those twist ties. She told us that one Christmas and that's all I think of now when I'm opening thigs that are all tied up.

We also use wire cutters but it still ends up being a big chore to get things out of the box. I still ended up cutting myself and I think I spent almost an hour trying to just get stuff out of the boxes. It is insane. I remember reading an article a few years ago about ER visits being up this time of year for parents because they injure themselves on the packaging. Merry Christmas kids...Daddy just sliced his hand open trying to open your Power Ranger.

No kidding. I have little puncture wounds all around my fingers from trying to free a chatterbox telephone this morning.

I told DH I think it is so that you have to totally destroy the packaging to free the toy, ensuring that it is completely unreturnable. DH thinks it is so people in the stores can't get the stuff out of the boxes easily -- shoplifting prevention.
