If I hear the pod cast crew say food and wine one more time....

I already did that......

I could have gone on a trip in June, October or November. June and November would have been with DD's friends families. I chose October for two reasons, it is food and wine festival and it is my birthday.

I remember getting this awesome taco and watermelon drink back in 96. Being fuzzy by Italy and we won't discuss my condition in the UK. Here is a pic from that trip.

I did that too!

We leave for DW on Sunday AND we're going to Food and Wine in October! Woohoo!! I'm going to have to keep my eyes open for the Pod People. :rotfl2:

We are all like that in the UK, with our 24 hour licencing laws and all that jazz!
:rotfl:

Hope you weren't too squiffy!

Squiffy - I like that, I'll have to drop it into conversation.

I'm hoping to win one of those 3 day/2night swan/dolphin prizes !!

I'm going in September on free dining and again the week after Thanksgiving so I feel a little decadent booking another trip. I'm waiting to see where I'm working in Oct. I have DVC points I could use (if anythings available) and frequent flyer points so it really wouldn't be that much.

Love it! Perfect term. I can say that I was sitting curbside at UK in Epcot and in the real UK feeling squiffy.

I read that they have banned drinking on the underground.

Indeed, people had a big booze up to celebrate/ comisserate, which turned a wee bit ugly!

Im glad i wasn't there, didn't sound nice! I feel sorry for transport for london workers who now have to clean it all up!

Don't you guys use the word squiffy?? :rotfl:

Never heard of it before. Just looked it up and it means very drunk. It is my new favorite word.

:drinking1

That is what I read that there were problems. Wonder if it would have been easier not to ban alcohol?

In theory it would be, since this is all just a big stunt of Boris Johnson's as he has just become Mayor of London. However watching a tramp drink on the tube, and being agressive with a group of girls is never fun!

Im all for the ban, i think its just one big stunt, then it will settle down as i rarely see people drink on the tube anyway. Its mostly people who are already drunk comming out of nightclubs.

Nope, but I will now. I did learn one term not to use when I was in London. We were walking down the street from the office on our way to lunch and I commented on someones fanny pack. Needless to say I shocked my co-workers big time. :scared1:

I must be a little fuzzy myself because I read that as a TACO AND WATERMELON FLAVOURED DRINK. YUCK.:rotfl2:

:sad1: I was planning on a trip to hit F&W, but it's not likely now...at least not in 2008 (darn property taxes!)

Don't you guys use the word squiffy?? :rotfl:

:rotfl2: I know so many synonyms for "intoxicated," it's not even funny! And yes, I've used "squiffy." Also: Gunned, Loaded, Bombed, Hammered, Blitzed (...see a trend here?), my personal favourite, Schnookered, and many more. It may have something to do with working in the liquor biz.

Oh yes that means something A LOT different over here! (i am secretly very childish and giggle every time i see that word written on the boards! :lmao: )

Wasted is a common one over here, but it can also mean using slightly more illegal substances. Tipsy is a good one too!

There is another one commonly used here, but I won't say it since it's a family board.

Clarification - a taco and a drink that was made with watermelon.

The way I originally worded it would be icky! :lmao:

Hmmm, the way you just worded it was how I read it in the first place.

It's a good thing F&W is quite a while after my trip, otherwise I would be begging my mum to stay longer just to go.
