If I have to limit my meals at WDW, which ones would you pick?

It looks like we might be going back to WDW in February with my inlaws that have a timeshare at Bonnet Creek. This means we can't get the dining plan. The last three times we've been to WDW we've done the dining plan, so I am afraid I will really miss all the character meals I used to book for my kids on this trip. I would like to still do a few meals while we're there (mostly because I can't stand the way my inlaws cook). We've done: Crystal Palace (breakfast, lunch and dinner), Chef Mickeys breakfast, Animal Kingdom breakfast, Hollywood and Vine (lunch-didn't really like it), Ohanas (breakfast). It will be me, dh, 6yo ds,and 2 yo dd. Which character meals would you pay out of pocket for if you had a choice? It doesn't have to be one of the ones on my list that we've been to.

Crystal Palace for breakfast is our must do every year! We also really enjoy Cape May Cafe's breakfast with Minnie, Goofy and Donald Duck in bathing attire. Chef Mickey's isn't as good as it used to be; we've not done Ohanas because we don't like Stitch and Hollywood & Vine is a NEVER RETURN to restaurant for us.

Crystal Palace is worth paying out of pocket for. We love it there :thumbsup2

Maybe I could do a very late lunch or early dinner at Crystal Palace. I don't think the shuttle from Bonnet Creek would get us there early enough to do breakfast before the park opens. I'm going to miss Disney's transportation... I am also contemplating doing a late breakfast at Chef Mickeys...

Cape May Cafe at the Beach Club for breakfast. One of the nicest character breakfasts we have attended. It is a must for us every trip (even without the kids!)

Strawberry soup is soooo good, and character interaction great.
I agree with this!!!! I LOVED 1900 Park Fare for dinner and the characters were GREAT!!!!! I'd think even a young boy would like the wicked stepmother and stepsisters....and a chance to dance with Cinderella!:lovestruc LOL

I wasn't crazy about Cape May Cafe for breakfast! There was hardly anyone in there when we were there, yet we still waited a long time to be seated (and we're the crazies who don't mind long lines on any rides, etc....this was excessively long!) and the characters didn't stay at the table very long.....yet they could have because there wasn't anyone there!!!!

LOVED Akershus and the princess intereaction/food (breakfast), but since you have a DS, not sure this would be for you.

We really liked Chef Mickey's last year!!! We did dinner there and it was great -- food and characters!!!!!

CP was good but I'm not sure I see what all the hype is over -- I hardly ever see BAD reviews for this one and I don't see it as being any better than the others we've done!!!

I'd try to do a LATE breakfast so that you could do it as breakfast/lunch and then the prices wouldn't be so bad OR I'd do dinners and really small lunches (and breakfast at the hotel) if I were trying to cut back on the food cost!
