If I have a ressie for 8 and change it to 4 is it possible to be told it isn’t available for 4?

If I have a ressie for 8 and change it to 4 is it possible to be told it isn’t available for 4???? Or is it probably doable. Hard to know for sure 180 days out.

Local family members meet us for meals and I have had to adjust ADR’s down as the trip got closer (sometimes it turns out they can’t make it if work commitments come up.)

I have not personally ever had a problem adjusting an ADR number down.

Just modify it on the app. I ran into a situation for booking a tusker house adr just last night where nothing was available for a party of 5 at the time I wanted, but I could get it for 6 people. I just booked the 6 and modified it. I thought this could still be done on the site, but I could only modify on the app for some reason.
