I have an appt. tomorrow moring at 8 and I know they are going to pull this widsom tooth....Well as luck would have it I just got a phone call and they want to show my mom's house tomorrow at 11.......I'm the only one available to be there and let the realtor in....will I be okay to do this after getting the wisdom tooth out?

I was fine to do something liker this after getting my wisdom teeth dug out but each person is differnt. I know due to annesia I couldn't drive for 24 hours after but that didn't stop me from riding my bike :)

Speaking as one who finds having a tooth pulled as high-trauma, I think I'd be OK to let a realtor in the house and hang while the house was shown. As long as no one expected me to speak or be pleasant. :D

You'll be ok. And it shouldn't be for long. Then indulge yourself and crawl into bed and sleep.

Hi Beth,
I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth out a while back. I was able to go home and take care of myself (drugged up on Percocet and all! ;) ) but I definitely wasn't up to doing anything.
I guess if you are only having one pulled and won't be under anesthesia, you should be fine.

I had 1 of my wisdom teeth pulled a couple of years ago. I was ok until I got home and took the tylenol 4 they gave me. Slept like a baby after that.;) I was pretty swelled too.

Your dentist will pull it just like that? Mine is making me wait. I had my teeth cleaned a couple of weeks ago and Sept 9th is the first time they can get to me to pull these suckers. I had to wait 4 months to get my teeth cleaning appointment!

Wow Shannon what if you were in a whole lot of pain? They will work you in here just as soon as possible. Now if it was something that wasn't hurting me I don't know if maybe it would be longer for an appt. but this is hurting!

You should ask the surgeon that. You can't compare yourself to other people who might have been on completely different anesthesia than you will be.

I don't know what I was on, but I was zonked for a while, and then drooling the rest of the day.

Hi beauty,

I can sympathize with your hurting tooth. Have had an infected tooth for a week now...finally got into the oral surgeon this morning because someone cancelled out.

I had novacaine and gas for the tooth removal. Only took 30 minutes.

Remember, you mouth is gonna be a little swollen and sore, it was hard for me to talk for awhile.

Each one of us is so different. You might have an easier time.

Good luck tomorrow:D

If your tooth is infected they probably will not pull it. They will give you antibiotics. If they do pull it tomorrow you will probably have some bleeding which might be a little hard to deal with when showing a house. Not to be disgusting or anything, but pay attention to the stuff you spit out! I thought something looked like a blood clot and it was. I didn't know for sure until a few days later when I had a full blown dry socket. So, if anything looks like a blood clot call the dentist's office right away to see what they recommend. Good luck!

What chell said is true, typically they will NOT pull an infected tooth right away, they will give you antibiotics for a couple of days (which will help the pain) and get that treated before pulling it.

You should be fine for the realtor. :)

Before I had my wisdom teeth cut out they gave me antibiotics to take...I didn't think they would do it if you had an infection.

Someone brought up a bad memory...dry sockets. I had all four wisdom teeth removed and got TWO dry sockets! I was in lots of pain!!!

And right after they did it I was pretty drugged up. I couldn't speak, could barely stay awake, and I was walking around like I was drunk. But, we were about to move in to a new house and we went to view it later that day...I don't remember much but I think I passed out in the house??? The next thing I remember was waking up in my bed like two days later.

I had 4 wisdome teeth extracted at the same time. I was on painkillers for about a week, but I found I just wanted to sleep afterwards. But with one, I think you should be ok.

I don't know how your insurance works, but they might not pull it tomorrow- even if it isn't infected.

I cracked my wisdom tooth 2 wks ago and I'm getting it out Thurs afternoon. The reason is because I needed to first make an appt to see the dentist (which was the next day after it cracked) and then I had to make an apt to see the oral surgeon to get it done thursday.

They have to go over the procedure with you first. For example, if you opt for gas instead of novocaine, thre is a specific procedure you need to follow (including having someone drive you in). And a lot of insurance companies need a referral before an oral surgeon pulls the tooth.

So more likely than not, unless it's an emergency, they won't pull it tomorrow - they'll give you something for the pain and schedule you for another time.
Good luck
