A question for all the experts. If I do happen to go on a really busy day is it likely to be a bit better in Disneyland or in California Adventure? I mean, does one usually get busier than the other or is it much of a muchness on crowded days?

We will be there in October and have hoppers but only one of the days we are there will be a weekend, the rest will be weekdays. So I am wondering if on the weekend day (when it will likely be busier than the others) I should go to whichever park will be a bit less busy (even if it might only be a little bit less) and we can leave the other park to the weekdays.

So is there any difference between the two or will they be just as insane as each other?

DL tends to be busier and feel more crowded than DCA. This is why we always start at DL first thing in the morning. Be at the gates before opening. Collect FPs when you can and ride the things that are slower loading or don't have FP. Around lunch we always hop over to DCA. Pick up a FP as soon as you arrive there. After that we stay there for a while, then hop back to DL. Sometimes we even hop back and forth several times.

I agree with PinkBudgie very much. I wouldn't plan on going to "one park one day" like say at WDW. DCA is actually considerably less crowded than DL on any given day. But the problem is that it opens later and closes earlier. Thus, go to DL in the early morning, grab some FPs and ride some rides with short lines, then hop to DCA, and go from there. Hopping takes a whopping total of 1-2 min from park gate to park gate.

Agree 100% with Pink Budgie & DLR 29. :thumbsup2

Park Hop EVERY day...especially if on a weekend (or if DL opens at 8am)

I like the way that HydroGuy puts it. DCA is like "CaliforniaLand".... & is less than 100 yards away.

One should visit DCA each day for 2-4 hours. (after touring & collecting FPs at DL for a blissfully uncrowded 2-4 hours in the early AM).

Hop hop hop!! It's quick, it's easy and it's fun! We hop every trip and we love spending time in DCA. DL does tend to feel more crowded than DCA to us.

I can't say anything that has not already been said.

Park hopping is quick and easy. I too follow this same rule of park touring. I arrive before opening at the DL gates. Once inside DL, I start collecting fast passes and riding rides until about lunch. At this point, I park hop over to DCA for a little while before taking a break in the afternoon.
