can I have those points applied to an AKV ressie I already have to put my AKV points used back in the account or does it involve re-booking?

It involves re-booking. You can cancel the SSR reservation and use those points (assuming they are not subject to restrictions from late cancellation) to re-book the AKV reservation, subject to availability. You will then have the AKV points back.

Keep in mind the deadlines for cancelling reservations and banking points may come into play. Also, any borrowed points cannot be returned to their original UY.

I think you can reallocate the points to the AKV reservation you already have, UNLESS you made the AKV reservation more than 7-months away. If it was made more than 7-months out then you used home resort priority for the reservation, and cannot convert it over to SSR points.

If your original AKV reservation was made at 7-months or less prior to the scheduled checkout date, than I think you can just reallocate which points to use.

However there are a lot of special things concerning AKV reservations, including who was eligible to make reservations where and when, so some special issues may occur where your reservation is concerned.

Worse case would be you'd have to rebook pending availability.

If there is a waitlist for the AKV room, your reservation will be cancelled and you will go to the bottom of the waitlist to use the points you used for SSR.

My response assumed that the home resort priority was used. Otherwise, why not just book it with SSR points in the first place? Of course, we all know what happens when we assume!

Called yesterday to see if we could reallocate points and the answer was no. I asked if I could just cancel the HHI, then apply those points to AKV and she said not without cancelling both ressies and I would NOT be able to rebook either b/c there are "always waitlists". She treated me a bit like I'm an idiot. I told her to just leave everything alone so I could discuss it w/ family.

Just got off the phone with MS. Cancelled HHI, then explained what I was doing and she said, "Oh, I can just reallocate the points, no problem." Within minutes, the points were updated on the member website. On a whim, I decided to see if I could get HHI back with the AKV points and within minutes, had a new reservation number for the same dates. So much for their "always" being a waitlist. :sad2:

The reason I needed the points reallocated is that we are planning to sell our SSR to purchase more AKV points and I needed to start the process in September, rather than waiting 2 months for 20 points to be used. It really was easy and painless, but you definitely have to get the right MS CM on the phone.

Too bad the first CM didn't want to check - if there were waitlist, the points should not have been reallocated.

Glad it worked out for you. Sometimes it pays to call back!
