If I buy a sunpass for the rental, could I get charged by rental company too?

Life would be easier if Florida went to the EZ Pass, but since they have Sunpass, I am concerned that the rental company might charge me even if I got the Sunpass and displayed it. How does the toll know which pass, or whatever to deduct from. How does the Florida/Sunpass/rental system work?

It would be easier to have a pass, but I'm afraid to try it.

I fly with my SunPass and it attaches to the windshield with two suction cups. On the way out of the garage, we use the SunPass app on my phone to register the license plate of the car as a rental in my SunPass account. If, for whatever reason, the transponder does not register when traveling under the toll gantry the license plate will be used to bill against my account. When you register a rental car with SunPass, you provide a start and end date of the rental. If you do not register the rental car's license plate and the transponder does not respond, the rental car company (and you) will be billed at a much higher rate. Never had a problem.

It does rarely happen that you get dual charged and it can happen a month later, so make sure you have access to your SunPass account to show you paid the toll.
