me again...

so if I want to make reservations for next April in Hawaii and my use year is Feb...when can I start trying to get a trade?
do I have to wait till Feb or can I call now and start looking for a trade?
thanks:wave2:

Booking window never changes. As far as borrowing points/points available, it is based on date of stay not date of reservation

All points usage goes by the date of the stay, not when you make the reservation. With a February use year and an April 2004 stay, you can used banked 2003, current 2004 & borrowed 2005 points at the 7 or 11 month window (which in this case has passed). So you could call to reserve tomorrow for April 2004. You could have called last May at the 11 month window to trade out for April 2004, even using borrowed 2005 points.

Looking for a trade at less than a year out is late, in this case very late for HI. Look for a direct exchange. Also remember that air is far more important than the hotel costs to many and even if you get a match, may not be able to get a good air fare price. At least with DVC, you can check once they notify you. I'd suggest you get air and a hotel that you can cancel then look for what you want using DVC and all means available to you.

Ok...so I can make my next years reservations for WDW right now? (using 2004 points)
when I make my reservation it takes my points now but I can cancel. right?

and I can TRY to get a reservation for sometime next year in Hawaii, right?

ps...air is free and flexible. ::yes::

When we did our HI search, we started 2 years ahead, but got the exchange just 5 days after starting the search. I doubt that was the norm though! If you are flexible with airfare, I would try going for a direct exchange on short notice. Our friends didn't get their exchange through RCI until about 3 months before the trip.

I assume this was Kona Coast Resort. They're the only ones I know of that deposit 2 years out and are easily available. It does help to be sitting there next in line just in case.
