the second most recommended off-site hotel? We've stayed at GCH and DLH, but are considering an off-site to do a quick trip w/ grandma in May. Hojos is full May 24-29th, so I'm looking for another great hotel - it's my mom's 1st (and probably only) trip to DLR, so need something clean, preferably close and with a nice pool for the kids. Any suggestions?

Candy Cane Inn. They are one of the few motels in the area with a dedicated shuttle of their own. They are down on Katella, but it's still basically walking distance (especially if you're just walking one way).

Park vue inn living room suite with kitchenettes..followed By best western park place inn and mini suites....then marriott Fairfield inn..I know that's more than one but jus in case...

Another vote for the Candy Cane Inn. Really like the staff, grounds, free breakfast, and -especially- the dedicated shuttle. The standard rooms are on the small side- this didn't bother us a bit, but if you like some room to spread out, it may bother you. The delux rooms are larger, but I haven't stayed in one so can't tell you how much larger.

We enjoyed our stay at the Candy Cane Inn. I would not make the walk, but that is just me, we used their free shuttle.

We have also stayed several times at Desert Inn & Suites. We have had good trips. The hotel is older and not updated and we wouldn't stay here if we wanted to use the pool.

HoJos is our favorite by far, even with the walk.

The Candy Cane is my favorite off site hotel. Bumber hit the nail on the head on the "walking one way"....the dedicated shuttle is SO nice for visitors who enjoy a mid day break. We usually walk the 1/2 mile (same as Hojo) twice & shuttle it twice per day.

BUT....i rarely use pools (so the better Hojo pool isn't a benefit for me) & I love that the Candy Cane has the free breakfast (which is a benefit to me ;)).

hound <-----likes all food....especially free food. ;)

Those of you who have opinions should post reviews here on wdwinfo! It would help those of us who are looking for hotels. Easier than reading through pages of short notes people post on these threads, too.

I just checked and the Sheraton has the highest rating among offsite hotels.

Well, I did get it from you, Hound!

Sticky thread of reviews...here...

But in the WDWinfo review section, anyone can post a short review, and a numerical rating. Only takes a minute, unlike a detailed review.

I guess I always wonder why more don't do that.

Candy Cane. Its the only place that give Disney a run for its money when it comes to maintenance and upkeep. The place is very clean.
