If given a once in a lifetime chance would you take your child to Singapore?

I am going to Singapore in February for a week. I can take my DD who will be 8.5 at the time with me for free. She will not have to be alone as we will have an office at the conference.

She is very well behaved and I feel she will handle the trip well. I just want some other parental opinion.

She wants to go and it may well be her only chance and boy what a chance!!

So, what do you think?

Absolutely! As long as the two of you get to spend lots of time together and she's never alone, I say go for it!! :bounce: :D :bounce: :D :bounce:

She would miss only 5 days of school. because the trip is over 2 weekends. Also, we will have an office so when I have to be in the conference room (which is rare anyway) my collegue will be in the office. No way would I even consider taking her if my employer would not let her me on site with me.

She want's to go so bad!

Oh and 3 of those days will be after the conference...3 days of nothing but her and I sightseeing.

YES. :) If school is an issue, I would work with her teacher and see if she can do independent study during that week. I am sure there are many educational opportunities in Singapore...lots of culture and history for her to learn.

I'd much rather have my child with me in Singapore than home halfway around the world. :)

Absolutely!!! Singapore's an awesome place!! :):):)

If you need any advice or tips for visiting Singapore, feel free to PM me -- I've spent a decent amount of time there for work in the past and love the country! :):)

Yes, I would.

When our DD was in 3rd grade, we went to Shanghai, China for 2 weeks (one of those weeks was over her Spring Break). We told the teacher well in advance, and DD brought homework with her. After we returned, DD did a presentation to the class about China. She brought in Chinese clothes and other items (chopsticks, etc.) that she bought there, and mounted her snapshots on a poster. It was very well received.

kinlaw6450, Singapore is a VERY safe place. My uncle lived there for 30+ years, and my cousins grew up there.

If I had the chance, I'd go in a heartbeat!!

Yes, Yes, Yes...

It is an opportunity for a great learning experience.

Singapore is a first world country just like ours, so it wouldn't have the same "impact" as say going to India ( a third world country)

But for the experience, the culture differences, and the things you can learn, GO FOR IT!

I have friends that live in Singapore, and LOVE IT!

YES

I believe that it will be a great experance for both of you. If given the chance I would rather take my child along than leave them home. As long as she will have supervision while you have too work, I say take her:D :D

Wow! What positive feedback!! Thank you Thank you...

I guess I'll be posting pictures of the two of us when we get back!!

Yes. I wouldn't think twice about it.

What a wonderful experience for her. The memories will be priceless.
