If (ever) you are not staying DVC, where do you like to stay on property and why...

Well we could NOT get a military discounted room at Yacht or Beach Club. They were gone. I was able to get the POFQ with no problems. We booked a river view. So that is that. LOL

I have not stayed there, but I love the grounds, so we have visited there. We've tried the food court and enjoyed it!

We've stayed at Fort Wilderness campground, Fort Wilderness cabins, Old Key West 2BR, Caribbean Beach, and Port Orleans Riverside. POR was our very, very favorite. In May we stayed offsite, decided that was enough of that, came home and for the first time, decided to become DVC members. Now waiting for ROFR, hopefully hearing this week. Very excited!

I didn't realize it was all so close.

Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter are sister resorts. So you get to experience everything at each when you stay at one. Not just two feature pools, but you can also go to the various "quiet" pools at POR if you wish to get away from water slides and such.

Hmmmm. Since we joined DVC (2003), we have not stayed off-site. Other hotels we have stayed at outside DVC are Carribean Beach, All-Star Resort, and nothing against those two places, but I think I would try something different. It sounds like Port Orleans is the pick so far, and at some point I need to go over there and just walk the resort.

From the resorts I have visited, I think Fort Wilderness is awesome, although the cabins are not cheap. I think I would like to stay there if I was going Non-DVC but staying "on-site".

I have stayed at many of the Disney resorts. My favorite non- DVC are poly and the port Orleans French quarter. After years of DVC, I now get sticker shock on the deluxe resorts. I'd pick French quarter to pay in cash. It's really charming and offers a lot for the money. And the boat to downtown Disney is a big plus.

If we can get a decent discount we love AK club level. But when we stay there we take full advantage of the lounge and the resort.
We liked POFQ, especially the small size and the boat to DTD.
Our absolute favorite room was a cars suite at AofA. Loved the theme, the pool and the food was good at the counter service.
Usually we find ourselves adding on a day last minute and end up off property where the price is so much better.
