If DVC removed Riveria resale restrictions would you buy Riveria direct from DVC?

I know Riveria has other problems minus the resale restrictions but if these were removed would you buy Riveria direct from DVC? Other potential issues would include: high dues, some dislike the location, and some dislike the theming of the resort.

Doubtful. With our pending resale we have more than enough points for our family(for now) with plans to buy a small CA DVC contract whenever that goes on sale for the 11 month window. We were planning on doing a stay at Riviera in Sept to check it out but that is more than likely getting cancelled.

I think my 1st survey shows that the boards don't think DVC will remove the restrictions, but this survey will give us an idea of Riveria sell through to current owners if the restrictions were removed.

I'd be very interested if they didn't have the restrictions. The restrictions are too much imo.

No - three reasons;
1) Don't really like it. The Skyliner helps, but the location still doesn't thrill me.
2) the Points charts - points are similar to GFV - much higher than elsewhere
3) THE MAINTENANCE FEES! Geez they are S-T-E-E-P at RIV
Well, really the 4'th reason is I just can't justify the added cost of direct vs. resale, but that goes for all DVC's, not just RIV.

I would not buy Riviera with the restrictions. I don't dislike it, I just don't like it enough to counterbalance the risks that come with the restrictions.

However, I would consider buying at the new Disneyland Tower () with the same restrictions, although I dislike them and they give me considerable pause.

My reasoning is simple supply and demand. At WDW, you (currently) have many resorts without the restrictions for resale buyers to choose from. At Disneyland, the supply is more limited, so it should provide an additional layer of protection for the value of resale points, although the supply and demand at Disneyland is impacted by ample off-site motels that are within walking distance at substantial savings. Also, the on-site benefits at DL are more limited than at WDW, so that adds a layer of complexity to the cost/benefit equation.

However, I dislike the restrictions. I think they'll lead to an in-building supply issue once you get a critical mass of people who can ONLY use their points at a single resort. Basically, it will disrupt the flow of points throughout the system as a whole.

I may have instead of BWV resale and possibly in place of my CCV fixed week.

I really like BWV but dislike the shorter contract and I might be swayed to buy RIV then.

I like the resort-visited during my trip in early February, the restrictions bother me so I voted yes. However, it would be a small add on contract, enough to get a studio for a few days every other year, maybe 50 points. I'd rather find a small resale at my home resorts, but they are thin on the ground, and matching to my April UY has been impossible.

We very nearly bought Riviera, but the restrictions were enough to make us go with CCV instead (that, and the runDisney FW). So to answer the poll yes, we would have, but now we likely would not because we also just added resale and don't see ourselves adding anymore points for at least a long while.

I love the theming and the skyliner. The resale restrictions make it too risky of a buy for me though

I would consider it though I would want to stay there first before deciding. I would rather buy Reflections but with that on hold I'd take another look at Riviera.

Riviera really isn't my theming, but I love the location on the skyliner with easy access to Studios, Epcot, and Boardwalk area. But the starting high dues and high points chart are currently holding me back, on top of the resale restrictions. I chose CCV, despite the higher per point cost, because I love the theming, location, lower dues and lower point chart.

It’s a nice resort with nicer rooms than most DVCs, but I don’t need any more points so I would not buy. Restrictions would have no bearing on the decision though.

This is why we are close to buying riv. We absolutely love the boardwalk area and epcot and beach club but not interested in a 2042 resort.
