If Disney does't get rid of that darn Tommorrowland Speedway...

For the life of me I can't understand why this "ride" is still active. Don't get me wrong, it was probably very cool in its heyday. But now...talk about DATED!

I've been hearing rumors of Cars coming to one of the parks. I think this would the perfect place for an attraction like that. Or just simply update the cars that or on the track. Make them more modern and a little bit faster.

Yeah, not a fan here either! And since we go during the summer, it's got to be the HOTTEST wait for a ride in all the parks. We really try hard to skip it! I don't even know if we'd do it even if it changed to a Cars theme!

Kids love this attraction.

It is one of those things geared toward 1-4 year olds. They should update it, but I am sure that is why they keep it.

There's always huge lines for it whenever I don't go near it, not sure it will go anywhere anytime soon.

It doesn't hold much of a candle to driving on the Beltway, but the younger set apparently likes being able to drive cars.

I hate the ride for the most part because it takes FOREVER to get on and it REEKS, especially when it's hot and the air is not moving. I mean major head ache exhaust smell.

That being said, it is a favorite of almost any male not old enough to drive.

I have to admit it's actually kind of neat to ride it really late at night when it's dark and there's no line.

We have not "driven" on the Speedway for years, but when the kids were little it was a must-do. Think of all the first-timers and young families that visit and this will stay a classic Disney attraction.

For being dated, hot, and not that exciting - it always has a looooooooong line. On my last trip with DH only (no kids) this was the longest line we waited in, by far. And we did all almost every ride.

We were kicking ourselves for waiting as soon as we got off ;)

I do agree that there must be something much better Disney could put in that spot....we haven't ridden it in ages, but I do remember when my daughter was not even 2, there wasn't a whole lot she could ride, but she LOVED that speedway. She was the craziest driver and we spent the whole time bumping from one side of the rail to the other. She had a crazy maniacal laugh the whole time :)
It would be nice to see it replaced with something more fun, with a more comfortable line but still can be enjoyed by the little ones. Or make a faster, more fun one and also a toddler-sized track.

There are certainly attractions that we skip, but I wouldn't call for their demise. My DS7 and DS4 love the Speedway. It's one of the attractions they want to hit twice.

My daughter was 6 when we last went and she loved this ride. I have to admit the fumes almost made me skip it but she laughed the whole time we were on it. She was too short to reach the pedals and steer so I pushed the gas and she just drove.

My 8 year old loves it. And if they remove it, a few years after it is gone people would complain about how Disney took away a ride that has been around for as long as the park. (IE Mr Toads wild ride, the Sky Ride, 20000 leagues under the sea and so on) I think absence makes the heart grow fonder in some cases. But if they do take it away it willl give people new things to complain about on the boards.

It's a great option for my DH and DD11 who won't ride thrillers while I take DD13 on Space Mountain. We all want to ride the rest of the Tomorrowland rides so the non-thrill-seekers head to Indy while the thrill-seekers head to Space. It works perfectly. DD11 loves being able to drive.

SOME kids love this attraction.

Fixed. :thumbsup2

My 8 year old hated it. He was excited until he actually tried to drive the car. Afterwards, he said it was a complete waste of his time.

I can see how kids enjoy it; if you can drive an actual vehicle, the Tomorrowland Speedway is a waste of time. If you're not anywhere close to getting your own license, it's all you can do and you'll enjoy it.

Still, I think it would be a prime candidate for a Cars makeover (it would help keep the Cars stuff away from some other places where it would be horrendous... like Epcot). Some new fiberglass bodies for the cars, some decorations that make it look like you're driving through Radiator Springs, and you're golden.

As others have stated, it's always packed because Kids love it! It's part of our "Car Culture" when they are driving on the speedway the kids are just like Dad and Mom.

I understand why people think this attraction should go, and at times I think so too, but then I see the little kids riding it with huge smiles on their faces and I want it to stay more than anything. Of course it's boring for adults and those who have driver's licenses, but for those who are too young to drive, this ride is always a favorite. My 13 year-old brother still loves this ride (partly because he's too afraid to go on anything else), because he gets to drive a car...by himself! And I agree that the wait is hot and stinky and miserable, but this ride makes people so happy, I'd hate to see it go.

I have to admit it's actually kind of neat to ride it really late at night when it's dark and there's no line.

We love the ride, but only after dark and when the line is less than 20 mins. There is something really cool about "driving" along in the dark, just relaxing and waving to all the passersby...
