If Disney does't get rid of that darn Tommorrowland Speedway...

My 3 year old boy last year LOVED this ride. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Probably his 2nd favorite in all the parks. My 9 year old daughter (this year) is very excited for our trip this Sept because she is tall enough to drive one of the cars all by herself.

I loved the ride. Sitting next to one of my daughters, or my son and pushing the gas while they steer. It was a blast. They loved it. I have great pictures of them "driving" while I was in the other seat taking photos.

The ride is definately "old school", with the smell of real working motors, but our family loved it. I didn't mind the smell at all, but I grew up not too far north of "The Motor City" :thumbsup2 :)

Granted, we were there last year in Sept, when queues are short, so the wait wasn't all that long. We probably went on it 3 times in 1/2 hour to 45 minutes.

The smell and fumes alone is reason enough to get rid of it.

Disney is very two-faced when it comes to this attraction. :teeth: It is horrible for our lungs and the air, yet they pride themselves on "being green".

My kids love to "drive" the cars while they are young. On one of our trips they even gave our youngest "licenses" with Mickey on them that they could write their name and the date on! Just a little keepsake that they still have! ;)

My kids all like it. It's the slow moving line in the hot sun that I don't like. It's not the highest on our priority list so we always seem to have to wait the longest for that ride out of any other in the park. We did better this last trip, since we finally had more than one MK day scheduled. The kids were 2.5, 5.5, and 8.5 on the last trip and all loved it.

They can't get rid of it for the same reason they could never get rid of Dumbo. Kids love it. Both rides are simplistic, slow-loading, and dated. But they managed to plus Dumbo with the recent retheming and move. You don't exactly need a masters in imagineering to figure out how to plus the speedway. A million ways they could make this exponentially better without taking away the thrill of "driving" for the little kids. If they ever turn Test Track into a Radiator Springs Racers East, then you probably can't use the Cars theming here too... but at the very least you could update the technology and add some sort of theming, scenery, etc. Right now it's an eyesore that is hogging prime real estate.

For the life of me I can't understand why this "ride" is still active. Don't get me wrong, it was probably very cool in its heyday. But now...talk about DATED!

I've been hearing rumors of Cars coming to one of the parks. I think this would the perfect place for an attraction like that. Or just simply update the cars that or on the track. Make them more modern and a little bit faster.

Why remove a VERY popular attraction?....my kids loved it and I love bring my grandkids on it.......update :thumbsup2..............but never remove!

There is always a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG line

Cars belongs in HSP

I am not a fan of the ride, but it is one of my favorite memories from when I went with my dad when I was 13. He was driving in the car behind me, and he told me that he would watch how well I drove to determine if I could get my license. I think my car had an issue... I couldn't stop bouncing off the center rail. I was freaking out because I wanted to be able to get my license in a couple years. I heard my dad calling out to me, but I couldn't turn around to see him. Turns out that he couldn't keep from bouncing off the center rail either! :rotfl2: Afterwards I thought it was funny... at the time I was a little annoyed.

DD is 5, and hasn't been a fan of it. She didn't even want to drive when we went on it... she wanted me to drive. But, one thing is sure... they need to fix those fumes! When DD and I were riding, they had to replace some of the cars, so we were stuck idling for about 10 minutes. I couldn't take much longer of the smell!

I realize this thread is from LAST year. But since the big rumor is that Dis spys read this board, maybe they will listen. :surfweb:

I have an idea: :idea::idea::idea::idea::idea:

Now, hear me out, but this would appease the haters and likers of the group.

Take Indiana Jones out of Hollywood Studios. Yes the attraction is a little dated but mildly fun. INSTEAD, use the overhead covering for shade, and re-imagine CARS there! They could do the Cars Theme, make the vehicles "greener" have a shaded covering, and a tie in for the HS concept.
Folks with little ones would have an extra enjoyment at HS.

Back at the MK, remove the cars speedway , and the possibilities are endless!!!! wizard:

maybe a villian section, or a "newer" movie tie in.

maybe a Wonderland for Alice?

or,split area in half and do something for Tink?

I also have a idea, although one that cannot be used for a few, years though maybe they can refurb the ride 90% and add the extra later.

The Stark Industries Speedway.

Arc Repulsar powered cars (ie electric cars). Tony has been trying to get them in production in the comics for almost a year.

The Track can be basically the same, id love no rails though. The cars will be switched over to the before mentioned Arc cars. Change the motif to Tonys personal speedway (which can mean keeping lots of the speedway type decorations they have already) and add in lots of Iron Man type touches.

The track would combine fantasy (comics) with future (IM) and be a great bridge between the two lands.

My kids loved it, but I had a headache from the smell of the exhaust. And you wait soooooooo long for it. I think a rethemed Cars speedway idea is good, but I'm not sure if they can make it cooler. :confused3

Every amusement park has this ride. It's a tremendous waste of space. Kids would also love whatever attractions (yes plural) replaced this.
