If cost was no issue - DLH or GCH?

If this is a one-shot thing (and yes, we stay on DVC every time) do the GCH. We always stay at DLH to maximize point values, but the GCH has more to offer. You have special activities such as storytime at the fireplace, not to mention the ones on the sheet left in your room. It's so easy to pop down to the bar for bedtime hot cocoas for everyone, too. The short walk and easy access make it great for parents. My kids love it there and always look forward to the turndown chocolate coins!

Yes, I forgot the chocolate coins. My kids LOVED them! You won't regret choosing the GC for sure! It is just such a wonderful resort! We had ZERO complaints and look forward to our return visit in 2010! Goodluck with your plans.

The rooms are cleaner at GCH, but if I were staying onsite, I prefer DLH because of access to the monorail and pool. I like CCI better than both DLH and GCH, though.

We've stayed at both several times, and I really like both. For kids, however, I'd say the theming of the Neverland Pool will be nice for them. Both offer a variety of views, but the DLH just seems to appeal to kids more.

You really can't go wrong with either one. However, I would definitely vote for the Grand Californian. We LOVE it. Sure, a lot of people say DLH for kids, but the Grand is great too. We love how it is close to DCA and if you don't use the monorail it is much less walking for the Grand. I have stayed at the DLH a few times in the past, but once we started using points to stay at the Grand, we don't want to go back to the DLH. In fact, we stayed at the DLH in Feb because it was fewer points, and while we had a nice time, we were a bit let down after having stayed at the Grand the last 3 trips. We love the Grand so much that we just added on points there and will always stay there now in their villas--set to open Sept 23.

I think based on what most people are saying we will do GCH, mostly due to the proximity to things.

So the next question is, cost not an issue, which view? Concierge is not a consideration as that jumps us into a much bigger point category and would take away points I could use next year. In September, I think DCA closes at 6pm so consider that and also the desire to see disney views and not scenic trees.

Thanks!

GCH...without a doubt :goodvibes

We've stayed many times at both the GCH and the DLH over the past 5 years and my whole family, including my younger kids prefer the GCH.

Have a great trip :flower3:

I don't know about which view. We've had standard and standard concierge. I've had much better views with much cheaper rooms at DLH, honestly. I'm sure there are really cool views and I think either DTD or park view would be fantastic, but the thing I dislike (A LOT) about GCH is how far away many of the rooms are from the lobby. I'm not talking about a little bit of walking, I'm talking two entire hotel wings to get to the elevator, then a maze of walking to get out to DTD. I snickered when I read this complaint before going there myself, not really understanding the actual distance until we had to do it ourselves with 3 kids. So...my main bit of advice is to request a room close to the elevators/lobby, no matter what view you prefer.

All guests get access to the monorail. The walk from the GCH is a bit farther tho.

For the view, I've only had 1 view and honestly if we went back I'd want it again. DTD view, it was amazing!!!!! so nice to sit in the room at night and listen to the DTD music. :) And once the door was closed the music was gone.

I know, I meant that DLH's proximity to the monorail is preferable to GCH's. :)
