The official that signaled touchdown only has high school and junior high football experience. The one that signaled touchback has arena experience only. Why is the NFL entrusting a billion dollar business to guys that make less than the average person? It is nonsensical.

A) The video I saw didn't have ANY official signaling 'touchback'. One official signaled 'touchdown', the other signaled 'stop the clock'.
B) The NFL put these refs in because if they didn't, there would be no games.

Actually simultaneous possession in the end zone is a reviewable play, anywhere else it isn't but scoring plays are treated differently. That compounds the mistake, it was bad enough to make it live but much worse not to change after looking at the video.

The reason it wouldn't be overturned (assuming it could be) would be because there is not enough video evidence to overturn it. As I said before, I'm told the replay officials are the normal replay officials. They got to look at different angles, in slo motion, and they apparently couldn't find enough to overturn it. So you think replacement officials, watching in real time, SHOULD have made a different call?

At this point, no games would be better. It's a crap product as it stands and the fans can't take it seriously. As much as they charge for tickets and the NFL package, they owe it to the fans to put the best product possible out there. This is unacceptable.

Did the official in question swing his arm at his side? If not, it's not a touchback signal.

So you won't answer my question? I used the link YOU provided. It defines a touchback signal as the time out signal followed by swinging an arm at the side.

The picture you posted shows the ref (#84) in the process of a 'stop clock' signal. Could it be a 'touchback'? Yes, if he then provides the second signal. Did he? Not that I've seen. If you show me where he actually signaled 'touchback', I'll apologize and admit I'm wrong. I'm guessing you won't be able to.

Do YOU watch football? I've ALWAYS seen touchback as a single arm waved. Is that what you saw on this play?

Not only that, when they went to the ground, the Seahawks receiver only had possession of the defensive back's arm, not the ball. They were looking right at it. It's amazing to think that they all could get it so wrong.

"The result of the game is final."
What a bunch of fools. OF COURSE the result of the game is final. There is NO mechanism for overturning the game.
If they came out and said "The entire game was called badly" the result would still be final! They just throw in"The result of the game is final." to try to get anyone with a room temperature IQ do buy in to their stupid explanation

Thank God i have 8 weeks of NASCAR left. And in that 8 weeks the refs and the owners better sit their buts down at the table and SOLVE THIS MESS. Because this is only going to get a lot more painful.

First, I'll say I am nothing more than a football fan so this is purely my opinion. But I'm sure I'll get blasted for this anyway. Second, I think the replacement officials are bad and have made way too many mistakes. However, I think they actually got this right.

First glance, it's clearly an interception. But I asked myself, when does Jennings complete the interception. He has to show control with the hands or arms AND both feet down in bounds. That's where I think they got it right. His back leg goes up and while Tate's left arm is pinned between the ball and Jennings chest his right arm is flailing around. Before Jennings second foot contacts the ground Tate gets his right hand back on the ball. If you stop the tape when Jennings completes the catch, Tate is on his back both hands on the ball. That's simultaneous possession. Before that point it doesn't matter if Tate lets go, because Jennings hasn't completed the interception and it's still up for grabs.

Interesting take. However, the missed offensive pass interference was an unforgivable miss, considering how blatant it was. But then when they hit the ground, Golden Tate has control of Jennings' arm, not the ball.

That said, if Jennings would have done what he's been taught....to knock the ball down and not catch it, none of this would even have happened.

Absolutely offensive PI was missed. As far as arm vs ball I never saw a clear shot that showed tates right hand on the arm of Jennings and that's where indisputable video evidence comes in.

He was in the air. Not a catch at that point.

It also doesn't matter that one player had 2 hands on the ball and the other had 1 hand on the ball.

It doesn't matter that one player had the ball against his chest and the other didn't.

The rule doesn't say there are different degrees of 'control'.
