If a park is filled to capacity, with an ADR can you get in?

I was just wondering if a park is filled to capacity if you are staying at a Disney resort and have an ADR, will they let you in anyway? I am specifically wondering about New Year's Eve. Thanks!

If it is truly filled to capacity, past the point of Disney allowing in resort guests at that particular park, the ADR will not help you.

Aren't you guaranteed entrance if you are staying on property? I remember reading that somewhere. You should check into it. Have fun!

You are guaranteed entrance into one of the parks, but not necessarily every park. There are several stages of closing that the parks go through. The last stage being NO ONE gets in. And as Miss J said, an ADR won't help you out.

We went NYE 2004 and they closed the MK at 1:00 pm but I heard the other parks were not as crowded.

We were in MK a few years ago on July 4th and they closed around 1:30pm. My IPO planner had actually changed my ADR to Tony's from Narcoosee's when she realized I wanted to see the fireworks in MK that day. I was really happy she went ahead and did this for me (of course she asked later if it was OK) or when we left the park to go to Narcoossee's we would not have been let back in.

Yeah, I had just heard that you can get in if you are staying at a Disney resort, but I guess that depends on just how full the park is. We want to avoid the parks during the day on New Year's Eve and then since we are staying at the Beach Club Villas go into Epcot around 4 for dinner and fireworks. It would really be a bummer if we couldn't get in though. Not sure what to do.

If it's Epcot you are worried about, you should be fine. Epcot very rarely, if ever, fills to capacity. MK does though, almost certainly on a major holiday.

Now, if you go to AllEars, there is an article there that says that they WILL let you in if you have an ADR.

Here is the link to the article:

See the third question.

We went on New Year's Eve a few years ago. It was insanely crowded around 9-10am...the FASTPASS line for Mission Space was so long, it took about 15-20 minutes to just get a FASTPASS. The standby line was 240 minutes. We finally left Epcot around 1pm because of the crowds (which is odd for Epcot to feel crowded), but went back at 6pm. We were so nervous we wouldn't get back in, but we did, and the crowds had thinned dramatically. We had a great NYE celebration! Not sure if that is usual, but it worked out well for us!

We have gone for NYE the past 4 years but never gone to a park on actual NYE. We were always just too scared of the crowds! We hope to go into Epcot around 4, walk around the World Showcase a little and have an early dinner before staking out a spot for IllumiNations, it sounds like I should be fine...hopefully!

I can tell you my experience. I have been at WDW 6 times in the last 7 years for NYE, twice at the MK and 4 times at Epcot. I have never had a problem returning to the parks after going back to our resort for a rest. We get into the park of our choice early, we do as much as we can and then we return to our resort for a swim and a rest. We usually return to the park around 5-6 at night.

ETA: We always have a ADR for dinner and usually one for breakfast or lunch too on NYE.

Parks may be closed at some time in the day, but they usually open back up. We entered the MK on NYE 2004/2005 at around 4:30 that day.

robinb, were the parks bearable on NYE after about 4? We aren't really looking to ride much, just to walk around maybe then have dinner and see the fireworks. I am trying to decide if we should do Magic Kingdom or Epcot. We will be staying at the Beach Club Villas so Epcot would be an easy escape after the fireworks, but I really want to go to MK because I want to have my birthday dinner (my bday is the 31st) at CRT.

The parks are completely packed! Do not plan on doing any rides that you do not have FPs for. Walking is even somewhat difficult. It is really, really crowded.

I don't think Epcot will close. Perhaps you could have dinner at the MK and then ride the monorail back to Epcot for the midnight fireworks. Both parks lose a lot of people with kids after the first fireworks. <ake sure to make you ADR on the very first day you can so you have your choice of times.
