We are going to WDW to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We are staying at AKL for three nights, concierge. Than we are going to SOG for seven nights. I want to make this an extra magical trip. What can I do to surprise him, activities that don't cost, and those that do? Ideas for pillow gifts ( I am sure you can have pillow gifts for adults too. Special places that guys would like. This is my first post and I really do appreciate any help you can give me.

I am surprising my DH this year for our 14th with an Illuminations cruise - we are having dinner at Cape May Cafe first and them we will stroll over to the dock and I will tell him there - I can't wait!

Since you are staying concierge, you also might want to ask the concierge for ideas - they are very good at that sort of thing.

perhaps the re-hitching ceremony at the garden grille? i have heard alot about it, never experienced it...

maybe a couples spa appointment for facials (they offer a golfer's facial at the grand floridian, so it's not too "girly!") or massages?

segway tour at epcot?

moonlight cruise to see the fireworks?

are you/dh athletic or swimmers? swim w/the dolphins? parasail? surfing lessons at typhoon lagoon? bicycle built for two? golf?

maybe a special dessert from the disney bakery folks?

check the disneyflorist.com website for a gift basket idea?

a bottle of champagne and engraved glasses from the gift shop?

bride/groom mickey ears? matching tee shirts w/an anniversary message?

i am sure others will have lots of ideas as well... perhaps spend some time at the disneystore.com to look for ideas too (a disney watch?)... HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Dear Searl,

We will be going in October. DH does know about the concierge, however I do all the planning and handle the $. I have scheduled the following activies so far:

Dinner at Boma

The Sunset Safari ( really excited about this) :hyper:

Exquisite Evening Dinner at the Food and Wine Festival - Italian Impressions

This is DH first trip to Disney World, he is going in for his second heart valve replacement surgery (due to Agent Orange), in the near future and I really want this to be a very memorable vacation.

Gigi1313, You came up with some excellent ideas. Has anyone done the Segway tour? How much is it and how hmmm graceful does one have to be? My DH is a bit of a clutz. Great looking, sweet and loving, just size 14 feet.
:D

I appreciate any and all ideas.

Keep them coming, and thank you.

Try the couples massage at the GF. Grrrrr.;)

Top three romantic places to eat dinner:
Victoria and Albert
Bistro de Paris (fireworks view)
Cinderellas Royal table (fireworks vies)

Runner ups:
Citricos
California Grill

Congratulations on your anniversary – all of your current plans sound wonderful – just being in Disney with DH is always romantic (even air hockey at DQ!). I always like to have a little something in the room to set the tone of the trip. How about chocolate covered strawberries (GF has little tuxedo versions), some champagne with glasses, sunflowers, and his and her robes embroidered with initials? The hotel can help you set it up.
Love to hear your trip report when you are back. Prayers and best wishes for a great surgery too (I know how hard it is, DB is on operation 11 - I think - coming up soon to replace his valve again – he was born without it – 30 year old handsome 6'3" goalie/computer whiz)

oooo, what about california grill dinner with a window view for wishes? I'm sure if you tell them its your 25th they can work something out! That would be amazing :)

I like the illuminations cruise idea too...how about giving him a sentimental piece of jewelry, a bracelet or something (if he wears that kind of thing) maybe something engraved during the fireworks?

ah, i love romance :)

have a WONDERFUL trip and i truly hope his surgery goes well, bless both your hearts!

We just got back from 8 days at the Wilderness Lodge. I surprised DH and DD5 with a dinner on the 3rd floor private balcony at the Grand Floridian. They were shocked and thoroughly enjoyed the butler that I had serve us and all of the personalized service. We had a great view of the EWP but didn't stay long enough for Wishes.

I told DH and DD that we were going to Narcoosees and gave them persoanlized invitations when we got to the GF.

The trip was divine!

There have been some great romantic ideas suggested here. But, is your DH a romantic type? Mine is not. I could probably pamper him with a couples massage. Beyond that, the things he would most enjoy would be a round of golf at a great course, watching football at ESPN club, driving a race car (I think it's called Richard Petty experience?) or zipping around in mouseboats. Enjoy a favorite restaurant together, but he will likely appreciate you thinking of the things he likes.

Thank you all for all the wonderful ideas. I am going to make a few phone calls tomorrow and see what I can arrange.

I am so happy that I found the DIS and you wonderful people. My heart is so touched by the good wishes for our anniversary and the good thoughts and prayers for DH.

He is 6’4”, blond, blue eyed healthy looking big guy. You would never think he has been through all he has in is lifetime. He is getting almost as excited about our WDW vacation as I am.

If anyone has any other ideas…. Please share

Thank you ALL

Here is something that does cost money, but is defiinitley "special" and memorable. Jane has some wonderful ideas. I had a "budget" event planned with her for my brother and family in July, and it was definitely a wonderful memorable event for them. It WILL cost, but definitely is something different and special, she does all kinds of things. Here's the link......... for less than the prices mentioned there, they will also deliver any gifts etc. You would have to e-mail her and check it out. She's very nice. You said free or "costly", this one would be more costly, but an option you may not know about.

I have used Jane's services a few times, and will definitely again for our 20th wedding anniversary in 2007. She is great!
