I had an idea to contact the hotel we will be staying at and ask them to decorate our room prior to arrival. I will ship them all of the stuff and all them to have fun with providing an extra special experiance for my wife and children as this will be their first time to any Disney Park.

Instead of my just thinking of the best I can I figured I would ask all of you smart experts for ideas. What are some ideas for decorating a non Disney hotel room to make it an extra magical experiance? Thaks for your help and ideas.

If the hotel can do it, ask if they can get balloons from a local party store to place in your room. I know there is a Party City in Anaheim that sells Disney themed balloons.

Also, I think a plush toy and Mickey ears are always a nice present to get for a Disney trip. This isn't really decoration, but maybe the hotel can put these items and snacks or something in a gift basket on the bed addressed to your kids.

Have fun!

Is this something that the HOJO would be able to do? Thank you for your ideas.

I'm thinking I'll just have a cookie bouquet delivered to the hotel so it's there upon arrival. There are some local bakeries in Anaheim that I think will deliver to the hotel. My plan is to see if they'll include a balloon or two that are Disney themed as well. That way I don't have to worry about shipping anything, forgetting something, or keeping something hidden in my suitcase. And we can all enjoy cookies. :)

I have been thinking about decorating as well. We were hoping to do DLH, but its looking like we're gonna be offsite instead.

A couple things I have on my list are bringing pillow cases and a shower curtain. We need new ones anyway, so doing them as a surprise seems fun. Plus, we can see them at home every day for a pretty cool souvenir.

If anything maybe you could bring a couple cool things with you (Disney themed towels, pillow case, maybe an autograph book and a cool pen, disposable cameras and a little Disney themed photo album so they can take and have their own photos) and when you arrive, send them off to get a snack while you get "checked in" and you can put their individial goodies on their beds and have it all set.

I haven't seen us decorate rooms, but I have seen balloons, gift baskets, and even cake being placed in guest rooms. Our Gift Shop Manager is the one you would to need to speak to in regards to prices and what items that can be delivered. If you are staying with us, please call us so our Gift Shop Manager can arrange this for you. She normally asks for a week in advance to prepare something.

What a good idea. We could easily bring lots of stuffed Disney characters with us and maybe some vinyl cling stickers for the mirrors and glass. Coming down in a grand caravan, we might have room to load that extra stuff.

We stayed at Hojo one time and I packed little battery operated Disney paper lanterns. I think they had Mickey on them. I say let the kids go to the gift shop and pick out their own gifts. Housekeeping usually will tidy up the room and put the Disney stuffed animals on the bed and such, so that it's exciting when the kids return from the parks! pirate:

I don't know about room decorations but maybe you could send each of the kids a welcome package from Mickey Mouse. I don't know what age your kids are but you could include things like coloring books, toys, snacks, stuffed animals, and maybe a Disney gift card they can use to buy souvenirs.

Granted, our stay at Hojo was in 2012, but my son was quite surprised (as was I) to see a small plush Mickey in the room for him when we arrived! To this day I don't know if it was something Hojo did back then or if a family member ordered it ahead of time.
