Ideas on how to make a non-WDW person into a fan?

Both Galaxy's Edge rides, Tower of Terror, and Rock N Roller Coaster are more adult rides that he might like. Epcot and Animal Kingdom also both have a lot to do for non-traditional Disney fans, like the safari, Soarin, and Test Track. I think the key with getting over the lines and hot weather is taking moments to rest and not run from ride to ride. Definitely get some dining reservations and plan to visit the better quick service places in between.

I would definitely take the Boardwalk 2 bedroom over the Treehouses. The Treehouses are too isolated for me, even with a car. It doesn't feel like a Disney resort, but in a bad way.
